Hi

I've found Mannitol in my Omeprazole!! Does anyone know a brand that doesn't have Mannitol in.

The ones I've got are Sandoz

Thanks

I don’t sorry, but are you sure your stomach acid is high?

We often see here that raising FT3 and raising stomach acid was the answer.

Obvs not for everyone but just an idea.

Thanks, I'm beginning to get the picture. I've tried a couple of times to come off it, but I get really bad headaches. I know I get acid when I'm stressed as it upsets my hiatus hernia but that isn't very often and could be managed a different way I think.

The symptoms of high and low stomach acid are the same, which is confusing, I know. But if you're hypo it's more likely to be low.

Thanks, every time I think I've got the hang of it, something else crops up.

Smileyface,

This is a link which should find most (not all) Omeprazole products authorised in the UK.

products.mhra.gov.uk/substa...

I'm afraid you will have to trawl through them - section 6 of every Patient Information Leaflet should have the full ingredients list.

This maybe a stupid thought. I feel better if I have a can of coke zero after a meal. Is it bringing my acid level up?

Coke is only slightly less acidic than hydrochloric acid (which the stomach produces to break down food) so it certainly suggests if it helps it's because you have LOW stomach acid

Thanks, another chat with my gp, or I might even ring my gastro consultant secretary and leave a message.

I take Teva Omeprazole when necessary. Just had a look at the Patient Information Leaflet (PIL) no mention of Mannitol.

Thanks, I think I'm going to ask to come off it. But if I need another prescription I'll ask for Teva.
