Thank you to the group for interesting articles and information. I am looking for help please. I was diagnosed December 2024 and was initially given Teva. Had awful symptoms. After a few months I was randomly given Mercury brand and most of the awful symptoms went away only to return when I was given the Teva the following month. Since then I have Mercury on my prescription. Today, my local chemist say they can no longer provide it as they don’t get paid the full amount . I then tried Tesco who said their supplier didn’t supply this brand. I have tried a different chemist and they have told me the warehouse (Alliance?) they contacted have said it has been discontinued ! Has anyone any information on this please? I am nervous about trying a different brand after my awful experience with Teva and is there any way I can check to see that it has been discontinued. I’m a little confused as I am getting different answers from all three chemists. I have never had such difficulty trying to source a medication . It is rubbish enough being diagnosed with this condition and the issues it throws up without having problems with trying to source essential medication !! All comments gratefully received 😊

Liquid levothyroxine (Mercury) discontinued?
My UK medicines has all approved UK products in it. For each one, there is a link to the dm+d database - which gives information such as prices and codes. When a medicine is discontinued, it will be shown there. However, I cannot be sure how long it takes between a formal discontinuation and that discontinuation being documented here.
It is always possible that Advanz are only supplying the products packaged and branded Eltroxin. Or only as Mercury Pharma levothyroxine! Or there are supply issues with one or the other. (The tablets are identical whichever packaging.)
I suggest you contact Advanz Pharma - at one point they communicated quite well but they did go downhill in that regard.
Of course, it might no longer be carried by Alliance or another distributor.

Thank you. I am on liquid levo. Are Advanz the Mercury supplier? When googled Concordia came up!
Concordia are long gone - the owner of Mercury Pharma is Advanz Pharma.
What I said about the dm+d is just the same whether discussing the oral solution or oral tablets. Except that they no longer supply it under the Eltroxin name.
The download doesn’t work for me !
What happens when you try to download the PDF?
Nothing!
It is probably getting downloaded to your device but failing to open.
What sort of device are you using? Do you know how to look for files on the device? Have you got anything that can open PDF files installed?
Mmmm…I was a programmer analyst in my misspent youth but now , apart from finding things accidentally, rely on occasional support from younger family members! I use an iPad, do have a pc. Also enjoying mulled wine that escaped Christmas to self medicate my frustrating search for elusive thyroxine brand
There should be an app called "Files".
Click on that and then On My iPhone (or whatever it is called on an iPad). See if you can find a folder called Downloads. Should be in there.
(Too many "shoulds".)
