Yesterday husband and myself were going to do some shopping in the shopping centre.
Whilst husband went into one shop I stayed outside and turned to look to the other side of the road and the next thing I remember - being hit in my back and thrown into the road - a bike had connected with me which was being driven too fast by a young man.) but the pedestrians were very kind and a majority put their coats on top of me to keep me warm as I was shaking/shivering badly. They waited until ambulance arrived,
Eventually ambulance came and took me to a hospital for X-rays. Thankfully they were all clear but, of course, I was shaken up (to say the least).
I am taking things easier today as I am always doing one thing or another (projects). Thankfully I have the energy to do so (when not recovering from 'knock-down๐).

so sorry to hear this, I hope you feel better soon. Why was the bike on the pavement? Did he stop to help and did the Police come to assist you and him?
I am just guessing at present that it may have been an electric bike used by a 'courier; (i.e. delivering pizzas etc). It was behind me and it was very strong so it was able to move me. It was also on a curve.
I have seen numbers of electric bikes being used for delivery of food or ready. cooked.
The ambulance was alerted (I believe) by passerbys. Police didn't come and Police station isn't too far away.
thats awful. He should have been prosecuted for riding on the pavement. Police should have attended. I think you should report it. There will be enough CC TV for them to see it. Itโs the only way they learn itโs against the law. Thank goodness you were not more seriously hurt!
So sorry you had such a nasty bump shaws ... that's not on ... not at all .
If there was any justice in the world they'd be sentenced to doing you cleaning shopping and cooking for a year ... (while grovelling) .. so you could get on with doing something more interesting instead ....
like getting one of these perhaps ?...
actually ..... get one anyway , then you can go back next month and run him over ...
So sorry to hear that ย shaws ...blokes ( mostly!) racing bikes along pavements are a total menace. It's a crime!
As I understand it the punishment for riding a bike on the pavement is an immediate ยฃ30 fixed penalty notice fine. ....but, typically speaking, only a very small percentage of cyclists in the UK receive a fine .
I assume the person fled and I think he would have been frightened himself. I think that experience may make him more careful in future.
The majority of people who spoke to me were so very kind and the very first person said he was newly qualified medical person. He stayed by my side until ambulance arrived then accompanied both husband and myself to the hos[ital.
I am very fortunate not to have any injuries and I feel well.
When we are on the pavement we certainly don't expect bikes to also be on it too.
Shaws, knowing how difficult it can be for us to get over things, just wrap yourself up and allow yourself the space AND when you feel better take it easy for a few more days. Sometimes I am so grateful to feel better I make another mess by trying to be โnormalโ too soon. Best Wishes.
I am o.k. today as my body doesn't have any symptoms, so it could have been worse. I want to find out the name of the person who came with me and husband in the ambulance as I want to thank him.
You're very kind and thanks for compliment. Yes - it is the shock that's worse initially but I don't have any problems so far!.
It was the tremors (shaking) and landing on my back that took a while to control as at first I was unaware what was happening. His bike was powerful enough to throw me but the onlookers were very helpful. The onlookers were kind enough to put their coats or jackets on top of me to keep me warm until ambulance turned up..
Hi Shaws: sorry to read about h your horrible ordeal. Glad youโre ok. It must have been a scary moment for you! Get lots of rest and pamper yourself. Best wishes!
So sorry you've had such an ordeal and I'm glad you weren't seriously injured. It's terrible he couldn't be bothered to stop and check on you. Have a gentle, restful day. Take care.
Goodness what a shock, so glad to hear you feel better today. You are one tough cookie.
I hope that the fairness karma fairy means he has flat tyres and faulty valves and a thorn in his saddle in return. Iโm a cyclist and I get so cross when fellow cyclists whizz through the pedestrian bit and Iโm pushing mine as per the law ๐คฌ what was he thinking, canโt have been looking ๐ argh. And you were just minding your own business. So glad the passers by did all the right things to protect you ๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ฆ
Haven't been on here as much so have just seen this post. Hope you are feeling ok? That must have been a dreadful shock. The driver shouldn't have disappeared. Hope you have recovered ๐บ
Thank you and I feel well as T3 keeps hypo sending out 'waves' that keep me well.
I have had no problems after being knocked down but I didn't do much - so rested and watched the TV. The next day I was glad I didn't have any sore areas or broken bones in my body.
Oh boy, so sorry to hear shaws. I ride & some loved ones want me on the sidewalk here (not illegal here but is in the city), as a lot do around me. I am forever saying no way as there are way more chances of accidents all around for everyone. Much riskier than the road at times.
Thank goodness you came out from that with no physical issues.
