I have bad digestion issues. When i eat a meal, normally in the evening, i get upper dtomach pain and then lower stomach pain a couple of hours later. This also makes me feel tight and breathless. Is this connected to my thyroid disease?

Quite likely

What are your most recent results

Are you still on Levo plus T3

How much Levo and T3 are you taking

Do you always get same brand at each prescription

What vitamin supplements

Recommended that all thyroid blood tests early morning, ideally just before 9am, only drink water between waking and test and last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test

This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip)

T3 ….day before test split T3 as 2 or 3 smaller doses spread through the day, with last dose approximately 8-12 hours before test

Private tests are available as NHS currently rarely tests Ft3 or all relevant vitamins

If you normally take levothyroxine at bedtime/in night ...adjust timings as follows prior to blood test

If testing Monday morning, delay Saturday evening dose levothyroxine until Sunday morning. Delay Sunday evening dose levothyroxine until after blood test on Monday morning. Take Monday evening dose levothyroxine as per normal

Please add most recent results

50mcg Levo is very low dose

I wasnt taking any levo until covid. I used to take thiroyd from thailand but when it became unavailable my endo agreed on a trial t3/t4 and so i have been on that since 2020. I feel fone other than the slow digestion. Im afraid i dont have any recent results but in the past my results showed suppressed t3 and the lower end of t4. I may go back to blue horizon for new results

That’s next step

If endo is dosing by TSH you are probably not on high enough dose

what vitamin supplements are you taking

IMPORTANT......If you are taking vitamin B complex, or any supplements containing biotin, remember to stop these 5-7 days before ALL BLOOD TESTS , as biotin can falsely affect test results

endocrinenews.endocrine.org...

In week before blood test, when you stop vitamin B complex, you might want to consider taking a separate folate supplement (eg Jarrow methyl folate 400mcg) and continue separate B12
