I just read on this forum that taking T3 once per day can increase hypothyroidism....please could someone explain the science to me on this? I generally prefer to take both T4 and T3 at the same time on an empty stomach first thing as I find if I take more than 2.5mcg T3 after 2pm I struggle to sleep that night. But I absolutely don't want to carry on doing that if I am making my hypothyroidism worse......

Oh gosh, I don't think I can. It was indeed in a reply on a post this morning about T3. I'll see if I can find it but like you guys...needle in a haystack. Good news is, it looks like misinformation anyway so, phew
I need high dose T3-only taken in a single dose at bedtime and have never heard of such a thing
My form of hypothyroidism is under control on a once daily dose .My sleep is not affected....but in that, we are all different
I wonder if there has been some confusion here, in that taking T3 naturally lowers both TSH and FT4.... but that doesn't mean the reduced T4 increases hypothyroidism.
The hypothyroidism is being treated with the T3.
I would be very surprised if your dosing protocol would make your hypothyroidism worse...unless you are undermedicated!
You can safely take T4 and T3 together and many people do so
The important thing is to take the correct amount of replacement hormone to make you feel better.
Can you please quote the source of this information so that it can be followed up.
The forum is very keen that only correct information is shared.
I can't see how that would be logical, but I can see that there might be a lot of confusion involved if people have misunderstood something they've read or been told. For example a lot of people think that T3 gets 'used up', and therefor taking it all at once would make it get used up faster. But it doesn't get used up. If you take the same amount every day there will always be some in the blood, and what dets into the cells, where it is active, it will stay there for about three days. So, however you take it, to my mind, it cannot make you more hypo.
