I recently ordered my T3 from my usual supplier in USA, but received 50mcg pills in error instead of my usual ones. They apologised, sent me the correct 5mcg ones, & reimbursed the extra customs charge.
I offered to send the large dose pills back, but understandably they probably aren't permitted to resell them.
So, it seems a waste not to use them as they are so expensive, but splitting them down with a blade to my small dose size wouldn't be at all accurate .
The brand is SigmaPharm.
I was wondering whether anyone here with a pharmaceutical bent could advise on a bulking agent that I could use to thoroughly mix with the crushed pills so that I could then divide up with a greater accuracy.... or whether you think that's a crazy idea?

My usual dosing is 5mcg & 2.5mcg, so splitting down a 50mcg with a blade x 10 or x20 just wouldn't be accurate. I also do realise that the active content isn't evenly spread, so even if it were possible some of those could be 'empty' doses. Hence crushing with bulking agent seems to be the only feasible way forward....
How would you know you had mixed the powder sufficiently?
Bear in mind, if you mixed sugar and flour, and then examine carefully, you'd find more of the flour at the bottom, or on the top. The sizes and physical characteristics of the substances are different. Even if you mixed them perfectly, they can tend to separate. Have you ever done that in a kitchen mixing bowl and found they are not well-mixed?
I don't think you could identify a bulking agent that definitely would work well.
In tablet manufacture, they might put the ingredients into a machine and run that to mix them for many hours. And, having done that, they might add other ingredients (e.g. a liquid) which will enable the finer powder ingredients to flocculate. And they have to prove their processes are sufficiently good. That there is no part of the mixing vessel where ingredients can get stuck.
The logic of extending the contents is fine. The reality is that it has too many potential issues to be worth considering (in my view).
I suspect the active ingredient is actually more evenly spread in the real product than you could achieve using a bulking agent.
Hi muppetme I think it’s takes so long to get a good T3 dose sorted that I’d be very cautious about trying to break down a 50mcg unless I was absolutely stuck. Your health and sense of wellbeing is so precious why muck about with home blended meds if you don’t have too?
I suppose you could crush one, buy some scales for tiny amounts (around £5) and work out the amount. You could not be sure you would get the right amount of the active dose though.
