T3 dosing question

JoJoloveschocolate profile image

Hi, I’ve recently started t3 and have been gardually increasing my dose with no ill effects. The Gp wanted me to titrate up to 15mcg a day in divided doses (eventually getting up to 5/5/5).

I’m on 10mcg now - 5mcg in the morning, 2.5mcg at lunchtime and 2.5mcg at 4pm. Feeling no ill effects( but not dancing on the ceiling either!) Early days isn’t it.

I want to stick at 10mcg for a couple of weeks now (maybe even stay at this until my next test in a few weeks time.

My question is: do you think it would be ok to do 5mcg in the morning and 5mcg later in the day instead of the three doses (5/2.5/2.5mcg)?

Thanks for any advice JJ

That’s what I do.

Early on, I switched to 3x a day based on the options visualized in this website:

thyroidpatients.ca/2020/07/...

I was falling asleep at about 3 pm most days, and 2.5 at noon did indeed solve that problem.

But then found when my t4 started to increase and my base health was a little more solid, that I didn’t need the lunchtime dose, and went back to 5 upon waking and 5 at bedtime.

Thanks FallingInReverse That’s such an interesting link. I picked up the part where she says about some people running out of t3 in the night and the issues that can cause with insomnia and tormenting anxious thoughts. I wake in the early hours with my mind racing and my thoughts whizzing around. I was going to take my second dose about 4 pm but maybe closer to bedtime would be better?

I take mine right when I close my eyes to sleep.

I have read here that - as with Levo - for some it helps sleep and for others it disrupts. I have not yet properly tested that theory for myself. Still trying to get my Ts just right. I’m so close!

Dosing T3 is a very individual thing. Suggest you try different combinations & times and see what feels best for you.
