In your post 3 weeks ago it was suggested you have Vits and minerals tested. Did that happen ?
VitC and Magnesium to bowel tolerance can help constipation..
Hi, I'm not aware of too much levo causing constipation. Constipation can be a sign of being hypothyroid. Unless you had it before you were hypothyroid. NHS doctors tend to tell us that our thyroid is 'fine' as our blood levels are in the normal range but if you still have symptoms then ypur thyroid isn't fine. I recommend to keep working on getting your vits ( D, iron, folate & b12 to optimal) and t3 and T4 levels to optimal. My private thyroid doc told me to get my T3 to 6. I also recommend speaking with a private thyroid doc, I wish I'd done it sooner. There are some cheaper options on the thyroid UK list. Then once you're on the right dose the NHS can then prescribe it for you. Good luck.
I don’t have the answers but my constipation/digestive issues actually get WORSE on any dose of levo or t3…so it is possible. I just wish I knew why 😩
What vitamin supplements are you taking
Magnesium citrate taken in evening or bedtime can help with constipation and improve sleep
Calm vitality magnesium powder is cheap and easy to take. Start on half teaspoon in small glass warm water. Increase dose over week or so until you get improvement
Too much can cause diarrhoea
Have you tested ferritin, B12, folate and vitamin D yet
thank you for the replies. I have not tested those yet, I am due to test Monday.
I don’t take anything other than levo , I am definitely not undermedicated but noticed Im struggling to go since being on a higher dose. I did some searching and found a few others on Reddit have become bloated constipated and tired on too high a dose and it mimics hypothyroid symptoms for them. I just wondered if there was any science behind that really or if anyone in here has had a similar issue.
