So I follow this Dr on Instagram and I have been worried about starting my Armour because I worry about the side effect with heart palpitation as I get panic attacks already. Now I've see this and it's made me even more nervous. Can anyone help to reassure me.

Many thanks 😊

Hi Tinkerbell - I don't know if thyroid hormone promotes cancers but I do know that if you're hypo, and don't take the meds, you'll cause a litany of other health issues. We must use caution when trusting 'doctors' online, he's not your doctor, in fact, how do you know for sure that he is a doctor? Even doctors who are so-called 'thyroid specialists' get it wrong. If you've been diagnosed and prescribed Armour I'd suggest the safest thing to do for your general health is to take the meds as prescribed, if you feel worse, come back here and discuss. There are many, many things which cause cancer, we'd have to live like a hermit to avoid all of them and that's before we factor in genetics. Please be assured that if you require thyroid hormone, your health will only benefit when on the correct dose and type for you. If you have health anxiety, avoid online doctors, many of them are quacks.

Trust your husband and those who genuinely care for you, you'll get great, free and unbiased help and advice here too. Please stay away from online quacks, they're snake-oil salesmen. You will probably find that when your levels of thyroid hormone are stabilised, your anxieties will start to dissipate. Good luck, and take it easy.

Best health advice I know is avoid " medical" advice from unreliable sources like Insta and TikTok. Not being a reactionary old fart but in my view these sites are like the Wild West and there is very little moderation or accountability to be found. They are dangerous. Anyone can pretend they are an expert.

One good rule of thumb; if they're asking you to 'sign up for a small fee' at the end of their spiel, log off.

Tinkerbell - these are his 'qualification' Sonoran University of Health Sciences College of Naturopathic Medicine, he's not a doctor, he's someone promoting naturopathic alternatives, and frightening patients into using his 'methods'. It's entirely up to you which route you choose, but this man screams 'quack on the make'.

I know where you are, I've been there, please be assured that these people are preying on our anxieties. Start your armour low and slow and ask for help on here if you come unstuck.

Tinkerbell_84,   Jamima has given you some great advice. I just want to emphasise that 'thyroid meds' are replacements for the hormones that your thyroid gland is no longer able to supply your body with. They are absolutely NOT cancer causing 'drugs'.

Billions of people around the world take replacement thyroid hormones and live well by doing so. Thyroid meds are essential for life.

Thank you sonmuch Redapple. Being diagnosed with Autoimmune Hashimoto's and Hypothyroidism has been a shock and I hate taking medications. So having to take a replacement has scared me a bit and I get confused when people are takikg NDT and Armour are they the same thing. Xx

Yes, Armour is a brand of NDT (Natural Desiccated Thyroid).

We totally understand how you feel about having Autoimmune Thyroid Disease (aka Hashimotos). I was the same when it happened to me. Having to take medication every day for the rest of your life is a scary thing. But once you start to feel like your old self again, you will be so thankful that you can take thyroid meds. 😊

Thank you so much for your kindness ❤I did try the whole diet thing but all my numbers went up. So I knew I needed to take it. Just seeing posts like that is quite unnerving. I think the thing I worry about is my worst symptom is dizziness and I don't seem to see that anywhere. But everything started after having covid. So it's the will this help my dizziness goes through my head alot. Xx
