Hi all am Hoping for answers. Xx

Long story I have already posted. But my.concern today is that my gp.Increased my thyroxine to 75 after getting teva.brand and stomach pains ibs.type symptoms .I changed them to other branded I had severe pain in left neck side before he raised dosage and it also affected my back neck and tooth jaw.top and bottom. My necks really killing me and upsetting especially.at night . After a quick exam and ruling out any neck problem and no tingling numbness arm I am left with painkillers no. scan. I have head pain .sinus type things going on coughing up.mucus excessively.feeling chilled. Cold fingers. Is this likely to be from dosage not right or will it improve. I have taken the new dosage just over ten days now. And feel terrible. Getting very down. Can anyone.advise as think i.have something serious.

I would say they could be hypothyroid symptoms - feeling cold, and sinus problems. I also have neck pain, that still flares up, but it's better than it was. What I would say is that each time I've increased levo, during the first 6 weeks of the new dose I've had new and different symptoms that eventually go away. I agree it's quite worrying. I think our bodies struggle to adjust to new levels, of what is a very important hormone. It will improve. Be kind to yourself, and try to reduce stress and eat well. Hope you're feeling better soon.

Hi thanks for replying I was just reading your experience so far sounds very expensive . My t3 hasn't been tested as I checked on my test results from March 2024 . But I was given thyronine many years back as I never felt well taking thyroxine the whole time I was on them 5 years then two where specialist decided thyronine was the one fir people like Me .sadly that was just the same.. I reluctantly started thyroxine again as started feeling few things were probably from that but feeling very unwell now . It's reassuring that you had the walking problems as well like I have it started with foot pain. After I came off thyroxine the first time 15 yes ago .that gradually git worse so holding onto hubby arm on any lengthy walks and no fun really legs getting tired stopping starting again . After the operation last March I was feeling better than have long time was OK to walk around no stick or support in out Dr's apps having dressings changed .then had inflammation in head severe on return from holiday mood went right down thought had stroke or something couldn't walk across room ...and terrible feeling like legs slipping away .no balance really holding on to walls .furniture anything .I can only hope that I get my walking ability back feel I am going downhill since treated as I did the first time . It was nice to be able take the 25 abd 50 dose without reactions I had rashes heart racing aches pains dizziness . Time off work .disciplinaries for being sick all time . Yet I was well before treated and always had been changing my health to get a number right I will always regret but seems I now need to have it. Not sure what's going on but the neck tooth and back neck pain was horrendous 9 to 10 pain. Am relieved thar there may be a link to starting new dosage had the Dr reviewing it by phone not just dismissed giving me anymore increases I daresay things might have gone better fir once I qas looking forward to getting higher dose as they say the coughing up and walking get better once at right dosage .it's a nightmare getting this treated .hubby has to listen to my moans most days . It's hard for anyone I think am annoyed that Dr's just send you off like its nothing . I don't think we can afford private .but am glad thar you have got a bit better thank you for your advice tempted go back Dr's Monday will see dentist Tues see if they have any answers re neck pain . Thanks again janine

Get thyroid levels retested 2-3 months after increasing dose

meanwhile request GP test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12 if not been tested yet

What vitamin supplements are you taking

Have you had thyroid antibodies tested

On levothyroxine, when adequately treated TSH will always be below 2….and Ft4 at least 60-70% through range

For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4 and FT3 tested

Also both TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested at least once to see if your hypothyroidism is autoimmune

Very important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12 at least once year minimum

Low vitamin levels are extremely common when hypothyroid, especially with autoimmune thyroid disease

About 90% of primary hypothyroidism is autoimmune thyroid disease, usually diagnosed by high TPO and/or high TG thyroid antibodies

Autoimmune thyroid disease with goitre is Hashimoto’s

Autoimmune thyroid disease without goitre is Ord’s thyroiditis.

Both are autoimmune and generally called Hashimoto’s.

Significant minority of Hashimoto’s patients only have high TG antibodies (thyroglobulin)

20% of autoimmune thyroid patients never have high thyroid antibodies and ultrasound scan of thyroid can get diagnosis

In U.K. medics hardly ever refer to autoimmune thyroid disease as Hashimoto’s (or Ord’s thyroiditis)

Essential to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12

Lower vitamin levels more common as we get older

For good conversion of Ft4 (levothyroxine) to Ft3 (active hormone) we must maintain GOOD vitamin levels

What vitamin supplements are you taking

Also VERY important to test TSH, Ft4 and Ft3 together

What is reason for your hypothyroidism

Autoimmune?

Recommended that all thyroid blood tests early morning, ideally just before 9am, only drink water between waking and test and last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test

This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip)

Private tests are available as NHS currently rarely tests Ft3 or all relevant vitamins

Hi I stopped taking the teva brand after getting severe wind abdo bowel pain .swapped to another brand I now have accord 50 g and Wockhardt 25 mcg as a replacement. I don't know if antibodies checked at Dr's didn't see anything else on my Dr's records . I saw two consultants when first diagnosed and ill after taking pills years neither had any answers . I had thyronine alone given to Me that ended up the same . Me in a near vegetable like state uncontrollably crying until I decided that was enough and came off them getting myself back to being me again .I think there has to be something else going on .I was trying get see ent again about the coughing up mucus I read that that's thyroid related as nothings helped . My walking problems started many years back pain foot but last year after severe pain head I couldn't cross the room without holding onto things .I went a abd e about month later they wouldn't do mri spine as I could walk in not in wheelchair. Or lost control bowdks so they said I had that scan few weeks back as dr finally saw it on notes and requested one .nothing really accounts for the walking problems only reason I agreed try thyroid treatment again was because hoped walking would resolve itself once at right level the Dr wouldn't investigate any further as he thought it might come back . Just guessing really .I could feel numbness tingling down my leg yday and this pain neck is worrying it started when still on the 50 mcg pills just out blue znd lasted 4 weeks severe and in my upper bottom jaw so I don't know I don't want end up in that sorry state again .where feel not myself anymore .I don't know whether pills have fillers .or coatings that might be affecting but I just wonder if its worth all this have never ever over 7 years taking them felt well yet I ws before and had no synptoms. Dr when I was 48 insisted my reading was 10.5 and needed sorting . .am trying again but it's not seeming beneficial in anyway I was seriously thinking have I got Ms when the walking problem started .Hard to get seen by neuro specialist too I was referred to endo last November but the gp decided zooner than wait ages he would ask of there was anything else I could take and they said no so that cancelled my referral . Sorry long reply over many years I regret doing what Dr said and still very untrusted of what they say .things aren't going that simply sadly thank you for your help janine

Increased my thyroxine to 75 after getting teva.brand and stomach pains ibs.type symptoms .I changed them to other brand

Are you saying initially your 75mcg dose was Teva

Now changed to different brand?

Which brand

Teva upsets many people

retest 8 weeks after being on new brand

Unless very petite, likely to need further increase in dose after next test

I have taken the new dosage just over ten days now. And feel terrible. Getting very down.

Very common to initially feel worse after increasing dose. This should start to improve after 6-8 weeks

meanwhile get vitamin levels tested

What vitamin supplements are you currently taking
