Hi everyone

I posted a couple of weeks ago with a number of symptoms, mainly mild headaches and occasional nausea , eye strain / blurred vision and sweats

My last results at the GP showed low TSH and T4 and the Dr suggested I was over medicated . I have resisted going to GP about my current symptoms as I fear they will reduce my Levo dose ( currently 100mcl)

I have since had a very thorough eye test with nothing found other than my eyes being very dry

I’ve had a full test with Blue Horizon with profile below . The Drs comments also suggest over medication but my T4&T3 are low in range !

They are suggesting that the CRP could be down to arthritis or rheumatism in upper body which is feasible as I have been getting some joint pain in that region

The raised B12 is nothing new . This is routinely the same and my GP isn’t bothered ( I’ve queried this previously ) . I eat a diet rich in B12 but should I be concerned ?

There was also a reading re Cortisol which was

367 ( 73.8-507)

I’d very much appreciate your thoughts on my results .

I have a private phone call booked for a second opinion (with a private thyroid GP on the Thyroid UK list ) but not until mid November .

Many thanks as always for your kind responses

My sweats and eyes improve when my T3 is higher in range, both your T4 and T3 seem low. This will give significant symptoms.

do you take a B Complex or a multivitamin?

What time of day did you do the test?

Did you stop any supplements containing biotin 3-5 days before the blood test?

hi , thanks very much for your reply . I took the test at 8.30am and stopped Levo dose 24 hours prior. I take multivitamin which contains biotin but stopped 7 days prior .

Interesting to hear about your sweats and eyes . I’m beginning to think I may need T3

Your FT4 and FT3 are too low I think. The pain could be low FT3 mine always is.

Recommend you stop multivitamins completely

Instead take separate vitamin D, separate Vitamin B complex and separate magnesium supplements

Vitamin D is too low

Aiming for at least 80nmol.

GP will often only prescribe to bring vitamin D levels to 50nmol.

Some areas will prescribe to bring levels to 75nmol or even 80nmol

leedsformulary.nhs.uk/docs/...

GP should advise on self supplementing if over 50nmol, but under 75nmol (but they rarely do)

mm.wirral.nhs.uk/document_u...

But improving to around 80nmol or 100nmol by self supplementing may be better

vitamindsociety.org/pdf/Vit...

Once you Improve level, very likely you will need on going maintenance dose to keep it there.

Test twice yearly when supplementing

Can test via NHS private testing service

Vitamin D mouth spray by Better You is very effective as it avoids poor gut function.

There’s a version made that also contains vitamin K2 Mk7.

One spray = 1000iu

amazon.co.uk/BetterYou-Dlux...

It’s trial and error what dose we need, with thyroid issues we frequently need higher dose than average

Vitamin D may prevent Autoimmune disease

Magnesium best taken in the afternoon or evening, but must be four hours away from levothyroxine

Free T4 (fT4) 15.4 pmol/L (12 - 22) 34.0%

Free T3 (fT3) 3.3 pmol/L (3.1 - 6.8) 5.4%

These strongly suggest you need dose increase in Levo

Are you taking Levo on its own, well away from any other medication or supplements. At least 4 hours away from multivitamin

Multivitamins not recommended as most contain iodine.

Do you always get same brand levothyroxine at each prescription

Suggest initially you try Levo increase first BEFORE considering adding T3

Aiming for Ft4 at least 70% through range on just levothyroxine

Approx how much do you weigh in kilo

Try 125mcg daily and retest in 8 weeks

Thank you for your reply . I have same brand each time - Accord ( can’t tolerate Teva) . In fact current symptoms replicate those I had when on Teva .

I weigh 68kg (5’6”) .

I take my Levo away from other food & supplements - last thing at night

I’ll look at Vit D supplements and I have some spare levo so will increase the dose and see how I get on .

Thank you again
