Hi I have had results from my tsh blood test .I now have a reading of 0.45 (0.27-4.5) .

My previous results have shown I’m going down the scale towards hyper . I have been hypo for 10 years after a diagnosis of greaves .

I’m struggling and have a dr appointment what do you think ?

Hello Lorra :

sorry - I'm a bit confused -

was your Graves treated with RAI thyroid ablation years ago or did you just naturally find remission after being on the Anti Thyroid drug - Carbimazole /Propylthiouracil for some years ?

Do you still have a thyroid ?

Graves is an Auto Immune disease for which there is no cure but if you had definitive treatment and primary hypothyroid - you can't become ' hyper ' again -

Once diagnosed hypothyroid and taking any form of thyroid hormone replacement the TSH is a very unreliable measure of anything and you need to be monitored and dosed on your Free T3 and Free T4 results and ranges -

Do you a T3/T4 reading and range there as well as this TSH reading ?

Hi Pennyannie,

I was diagnosed with greaves at 42 I subsequently became euthyroid on carbimazol.

I then done years later became hypothyroid.

I have been treated with levothyroxin I am now on 100mg.

I have my bloods tested 6monthly these results are my latest . I am not aware of T3orT4 testing.

If I am over medicated can this be a problem?

OK - so you still have your thyroid -

Does this feel like your ' hyper ' symptoms from years ago recurring -

or is it just this TSH reading that has upset you -

which on it's own, seen in isolation, is pretty meaningless once taking thyroid hormone replacement ?

Do you have copies there of your T3/T4 results and the thyroid antibodies which were positive and over range when diagnosed Graves ?

Suggest you get these thyroid antibodies rerun - just in case it's another ' blip ' -

alongside getting a full thyroid blood panel run to include the TSH + Free T3 and Free T4 results and ranges.

Thankyou for your reply .

The dr has reduced my Levo and full bloods in a month . Hopefully my symptoms will fade away once I’m on a lower dose . And yes I have been suffering recurring hyper symptoms .

Ask to get your thyroid antibodies run -

You maybe have over range TPO / TgAB and dealing with Hashimoto's AI thyroid disease or over range TRab / TSI - which means your Graves is at play !!
