What are your exact results? TSH, FT4, FT3?

Also I just looked back at your past posts. Don’t think I can add much… have you taken any of that advice?

you can add 12.5mcg every day instead, cutting a 25mcg tablet in half

Which brand is your 50mcg tablet

Have you got any 25mcg tablets you can cut in half

If not cut 50mcg in 1/4’s - use sharp craft scalpel

It doesn’t matter if 1/4’s aren’t equal

Use a weekly pill dispenser to store spare 1/4’s for coming days

Retest after 6-8 weeks on constant dose

some people are fine with alternate day doses

Others find it better to take same dose everyday

if you notice difference

You can cut the 25mcg and take half each morning

This gives 62.5mcg daily

Retest in 8 weeks

Test early morning and last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test

Make sure you test TSH, Ft4 and Ft3

Palpitations are often due to being on too LOW a dose levothyroxine

And/or low iron/ferritin

Make sure to test vitamin D, folate, B12 and ferritin at next test

TSh is too high , it shows you are hypo and needed a dose increase

fT4 and fT3 , you need the ranges to be accurate , but if ranges are [12-22] and [3.1-6.8] or similar , then these are both fairly low in range .... showing you needed a dose increase.

Thankyou , so shal 75 /50 alternate days help

SlowDragon profile image
SlowDragonAdministrator in reply toProsecco1997

Initially

Likely to need further increase in 2-3 months time….but increasing SLOWLY

Retesting 8-10 weeks after each increase

And watch out for brand of levothyroxine changes

Teva brand upsets many people

yes .... if those result are from 50mcg , increase to 50/75 alternate for 6 wks then get retested.

wait a full 6 wks before you decide how it feels .. the first few wks after a dose adjustment are often not very nice ,you may notice all sorts of weird changes , that are different again the next week , and so on ...but things often start to settle and improve after wk 5 /6

ESSENTIAL to test vitamin D, folate, B12, ferritin

When were these last tested

Exactly what vitamin supplements are you taking

On levothyroxine we must maintain GOOD vitamin levels

I’m not taking any as I have heart rythym problem, so not sure on what I can take , shall I stick at 50 /75 , would you do 75 3 times a week or 4 ? Or can I do the 62.5 7 days aweek

SlowDragon profile image

You can either take 50mcg and 75mcg alternate days (repeats every 14 days)

Or cut 25mcg in half and take 62.5mcg everyday

Some people find they notice alternate day dosing and find it better to take same dose everyday

Which brand is your 50mcg

which brand is 25mcg

Get vitamin levels tested now via GP or privately

Very likely some are low

Vitamin D, folate, B12 and ferritin
