Carbimazole: Joint pain

So the good news is that the heart rate settled without further issue, in fact I'm probably a bit below normal now, but not too low - perhaps stress from the appointment - who knows.

The other problem I have is now the joint pain is getting much much worse ie it is waking me in the night. I have had aching joints throughout treatment ie in fingers etc but I have a very painful right elbow and very painful right foot (not the joint in the foot, the pain is radiating from an old fracture - which had happened before although not to this level - during winter months when cold).

I also have insanely dry elbows (never had dry skin before) which in some spots crack and bleed, despite lashings of Castor Oil. Even the skin on my nipples (sorry if this is a graphic for some - they're always erect so used to clothing rubbing etc) feels a bit sore although I can't see anything to that affect :(

Any ideas?

Did you have joint pain before the medication? Or has it just gotten worse since?

I can't remember having joint pain specifically prior to medication (over a year ago) just tired, general weakness and a LOT of cramps just prior to diagnosis

Interesting. You may experiencing hypo symptoms as the medication may be lowering your levels too much. Just a guess.

when were vitamin D, folate, B12 and ferritin levels last tested

What vitamin supplements are you taking

Joint pain suggests low vitamin D/low thyroid levels

Dry skin hypo symptom

I'd have to have a look but generally vitamin levels have always come back bang in the middle of the range ... I take selenium, Vit D, E, B complex, L-Carnitine ... I feel like I've missed something but it escapes me :/

TSH a few weeks ago was 0.94 (range 0.3 -2.5 I think)

T4 15 (range 11-23)

Or as the endo put it "spot on" 🙄

Free T4 (fT4) 15 pmol/L (11 - 23)

Ft4 only 33.3% through range……so that’s likely too low

you need to get full thyroid including Ft3 and vitamin levels tested

Stop B complex 5-7 days before test

Not what you're looking for?
