Pharmacist - changed brand - Crescent Pharma

Hello, after being completely wrecked by the Endo - with a 6 weeks off Levo (dose 100mcg) I have finally clawed back to something like normality for me. After requesting to stay with Wockhardt, the pharmacist has today switched me to a brand I have never heard of, Crescent Pharma Limited. The callout panel on Google has very adverse comments. I’m about to research it if I can, but has anyone on this forum heard of it, or know anything about it. Thanks for any help you can give.

They don't list it on their website?

Crescent has been available since June this year.

Crescent

Lactose monohydrate (FlowLac 100)

Maize starch (Type B)

Croscarmellose sodium (Ac-Di-Sol)

Gelatin 120 Bloom

Purified water

Magnesium stearate

In 12,5, 25, 50, 75 and 100 microgram tablets (though 12.5 might be delayed in availability).

helvella's medicines documents (UK and Rest of the World) can be found here:

helvella - Thyroid Hormone Medicines

helvella has created, and tries to maintain, documents containing details of all thyroid hormone medicines in the UK and, in less detail, many others around the world. There is now a specific world desiccated thyroid document.

I highly recommend viewing on a computer screen, or a decent sized tablet, rather than a phone. Even I find it less than satisfactory trying to view them on my phone.

helvella - Thyroid Hormone Medicines - UK

The UK document contains up-to-date versions of the Summary Matrixes for levothyroxine tablets, oral solutions and also liothyronine available in the UK. Includes injectables and descriptions of tablet markings which allow identification. Latest updates include all declared ingredients for all UK products and links to Patient Information Leaflets, etc. PLUS how to write prescriptions in Appendix F.

helvella - World Desiccated Thyroid

Contains details of all known desiccated thyroid products including information about several products not considered to be Natural Desiccated Thyroid (NDT/Desiccated Thyroid Extract/DTE).

dropbox.com/scl/fi/gx6dmz5i...

helvella - Thyroid Hormone Medicines - RotW

Contains details of all levothyroxine, liothyronine and combination products - excluding desiccated thyroid products. Details available vary by country and manufacturer.

The link below takes you to a blog page which has direct links to the documents from Dropbox and QR codes to make it easy to access from phones. You will have to scroll down or up to find the link to the document you want.

Thank you helvella. I did look on your huge data base - I don’t know how you do it! I didn’t find it, but possibly on the wrong page. I’ll have another go tomorrow. Many thanks😀👍

Page 22 of the current latest version - updated this very morning. (Though Crescent have been in for weeks!) Page numbers do often change due to updates.

Always check the date - which appears on the front page. It is rarely more than a few days between updates.

Thank you very much Helvella,

I had an old copy in dropbox - I’ll just delete it. Thanks again for all your hard work.

I have just been given Crescent too for the first time…normally have Mercury, seem ok on it about 2 weeks but not quite comparing like with like as I am very reluctantly conforming to GP’s insistence to go done from 100 levo to 75 ( argument over being ‘overmedicated’ causing high HR).

Hi Judithdalston, well we’ll see eventually won’t we if there’s a problem. I just wish they’d be consistent. I have the same battle but refused to come down as it makes a difference and I don’t feel well. I try to see the same GP - not always easy these days - and she ‘allows’ me to be ‘outof range’. Take care.😀

I’ve been out of range for 24 years re TSH, so I think he is just hoping for something higher than what he insists is undetectable even tho there is an actual figure quoted 0.02! He’ll be lucky….

Dear judithdalston, After seeing an arrogant Endo who clearly didn’t believe that I was hypo (despite a diagnosis) and got me to do ‘cold turkey’ for 6 weeks, nothing surprises me. Why are they all so ignorant about the thyroid. My advice is don’t let him mess you about. Take care and keep well.
