Hello, I have only ever taken wockhardt levothyroxine, for 5 years, since diagnosed, but the pharmacy have just given me the crescent brand, saying they don't know what brand they are getting until it arrives, and that's what's arrived. They are very good and normally find me some levothyroxine and are proactive. But didn't seem possible this time. I am anxious to change brands as I wonder if it might negatively effect me. And it seems its quite new on the market and has some different ingredients. Where can a lay person find information on this that is understandable and it makes no sense to me that patients have a brand that works well and has to change it....any help with query would be gratefully recieved. 🙏
Crescent: Hello, I have only ever taken wockhardt... - Thyroid UK
Crescent
It is, indeed, relatively new to the UK market. There are some details (of Crescent and Wockhardt and all other UK products) in my UK medicines document.
A few members have received it. Afraid I cannot remember their opinions!
This is a link to a search for posts which mention Crescent:

helvella - Thyroid Hormone Medicines
helvella has created, and tries to maintain, documents containing details of all thyroid hormone medicines licensed in the UK and, in less detail, many others around the world. There is now a specific world desiccated thyroid document.
I highly recommend viewing on a computer screen, or a decent sized tablet, rather than a phone. Even I find it less than satisfactory trying to view them on my phone.
helvella - Thyroid Hormone Medicines - UK
The UK document contains up-to-date versions of the Summary Matrixes for levothyroxine tablets, oral solutions and liothyronine available in the UK. Includes injectables and descriptions of tablet markings which allow identification. Latest updates include all declared ingredients for all UK-licensed products and links to Patient Information Leaflets, Dictionary of Medicines and Devices (dm+d), British National Formulary, NHS Drug Tariff, etc. PLUS how to write prescriptions in Appendix F.
Also includes links for anti-thyroid medicines (but not product details).
It should list the excipients in the PIL. I hope the Pharmaceutical warehouses aren’t playing silly b’s again as I can only tolerate Wockhardt.
I get terrible reactions to some tablet fillers.
This may or may not help you, but I’ve been put on a migraine preventative which was dispensed and the box has Crescent on it. I checked all the ingredients and I have been fine on theirs. Obviously mine is not levo, but I think if you follow the list from Hellvella you should be able to make a decision. I hope it suits you if you decide to take it.
I've recently had my repeat prescription and been given Crescent instead of Accord - I'm experiencing the same side effects as I did on Teva; extensive random muscle & joint pain.
I am going to ask my pharmacy if they have any Accord I can replace it with.
