Hi,

Earlier in the year, I had a finger prick collection to test for reproductive hormones and the numbers were off the chart! I am on BHRT and several members from the group I am in said Finger prick tests are unreliable.

Has anyone had this with Thyroid hormones and finger prick?

If you use a transdermal HRT then it's impossible not to contaminate the sample with a finger prick test but as thyroid hormone is oral then it is just down to timing of blood draw, 9am fasted, last dose of T4 24 hours before, if you always stick with this routine then you have comparable results each time

I use cream, so use cotton pads to apply. I have ordered blood draw for peace of mind. Thank you for your help x

Randox do one with a clever little device called a Tasso which gets over the issue, I might try one of these next year... randoxhealth.com/en-GB/at-h...

The tests are so sensitive that even a tiny amount on the skin sends it sky high
