I suspect it was kiboshed by Covid and then Brexit? Depressing if that was the case as it seemed very promising….

Yes I think you have worked out the answer for yourself -

I was reading other day about a development for the treatment of thyroid eye disease and or another new product being trialled in the States - sorry I can't remember but tagging   Buddy195 who likely can tell us more.

Thinking on - as drawing a blank at the moment !!

Have a look at Worg Pharma (who have acquired Apitope):

WP1302

Graves’ disease is an autoimmune disease in which the immune system attacks the thyroid gland and causes it to become overactive. It causes overproduction of thyroid hormone leading to various symptoms such as, heat intolerance, sweating, weight loss, and muscle weakness. Thyroid eye disease which manifests as eye bulging is a frequent complication and associated with the potential risk of blindness. Graves' disease is one of the most common autoimmune diseases, with approximately 10 million patients across Europe and the US.

First line therapies for Graves’ disease consist of anti-thyroid drugs to reduce the production of thyroid hormones and/or radioactive iodine therapy. Many patients often fail current first line therapy and the last remaining option is surgical removal of the thyroid, leading to lifelong thyroid replacement therapy and potential complications such as scarring and vocal cord damage.

Graves' disease provides fast market entry opportunities through rare and serious orphan indications with high unmet medical need including Graves' ophthalmopathy and paediatric Graves' disease.

WP1302 is the first treatment to target the immunological basis of Graves' disease and the first innovative treatment in more than 60 years for patients with the disease. WP1302 has been evaluated in a Phase I study in patients and is showing promising signs of early efficacy in the majority of patients with very favourable safety profile.

Ah thanks. Interesting that Apitope has been taken over by Worg Pharma and that link seems to suggest 🤞 that the vaccine is still in the pipeline although it doesn’t look as if any progress has been made.

Came across this (below) which (if I am understanding it correctly) seems to say that project Daviad came to an end in 2018 and Apitope were looking into taking the vaccine forward for further phases of testing….

“Advancing the vaccine towards market approval requires either additional funding for clinical development by Apitope International N.V. itself, or identifying a large pharmaceutical partner willing to take the programme forward. Apitope International N.V. has been actively engaged in exploitation and has continuously sought additional funding to expand the project. As a consequence of these activities, Apitope has successfully raised 30 million EUR in funding from venture capitalists and is presently engaged in further financing to advance the project beyond that scope of the DAVIAD programme and towards Phase II clinical trials.”

I wonder if the Worg Pharma takeover has scuppered (or hopefully just delayed) things…..
