Hi everyone, I've just found out that I'm 4 weeks pregnant. I would rather not have to share this news yet but I need the advice of the knowledgeable people on this forum🙏🏽.
My results from last week are below. I'm going to retest as I didn't leave the correct gap for the lio but I did for the levo (so T4 result below can be used).
Free T4 19.5 10.8 - 25.5 (59.2%)
Free T3 6.1 3.1 - 6.8 (81.1%)
TSH 0.002 (0.27-4.2)
I think that I need to increase my levo, but by how much? I'm on 125mcg of levo and 10mcg lio.
Thanks

Congratulations! I recently found out I’m pregnant as well and wasn’t sure about dose increase because my levels were pretty good in early pregnancy. I called the GP as soon as I found out and they raised my dose from 75mcg to 100mcg. I started taking it about week 5. The guidance suggests dose increase should be 20-30%
Congratulations to you too! I have an appointment with my GP later. I took an extra 25mcg from yesterday which is an extra 20% on top of my normal dose of 125mcg but perhaps I need to increase by another 12.5mcg...will see what the GP says.
Yeah I would wait to see what GP says. They may seek advice and guidance from secondary care. The main thing is to ensure you have regular tests. Good luck 🙂
I have not been hypo and pregnant, but have shared this article a few times here:
Timing and Magnitude of Increases in LevothyroxineTiming and Magnitude of Increases in Levothyroxine Requirements during Pregnancy in Women with Hypothyroidism Requirements during Pregnancy in Women with Hypothyroidism:
Sufficient T4 is one of the most important measures to keep an eye on, and although I’m not sure there’s been clinical consensus on exactly how much to increase (?) those articles above (and many others) confirm.
The fetus cannot make its own thyroid hormone until mid-gestation (about week 20), and therefore relies entirely on yours, hence the undisputed need to increase Levo regularly.
There are periodic posts on this forum about being pregnant, and even though the search function isn’t the best - definitely have a look!
