So I had my Endocrinology appointment. She asked me if I took my dose of t3 before the test at 7am and I said no as she caught me off guard! She had slyly earlier in the appointment already asked me when I took my t3 dose (in the morning as one dose). Unfortunately the doctor is a TSH worshiper and said that as my TSH is undetectable can I reduce my dose of liothyronine from 10 to 5. I refused and I said that as soon as one takes liothyronine it can cause TSH to become suppressed and I would rather go by my in range results and how I feel. I told her that I feel well and that I've worked hard to get to this point.
She said that an undetectable TSH could cause me issues with trying to conceive- is there some basis to that or is that just fake news? That made me worry a bit.
She made me hold out my hands and checked my pulse - both of which were fine.
I feel like it was a complete waste of a chunk of my day off!
Anyway, I will retest my thyroid levels because I didn't follow the proper protocol for the test (hadn't taken my full dose of t3 22 hours before the test).
Thanks everyone ☺

They usually say a low TSH risks heart issues or osteoporosis.
I haven’t read any research citing an undetectable TSH to cause issues with conception. In fact everything I read says inadequate thyroid hormones and a raised TSH causes fertility problems.
I think she is scaremongering. You could say this is a concerning claim and ask her to provide evidence.
Having said that if you are trying to conceive you don’t want thyroid hormones over-range. More is not better where thyroid hormones are concerned as risk distraughting other hormonal balances needed for good conception.
Don't let her gaslight you, hun. Good levels of vitamin D are useful if you're trying to conceive, I've not heard of anything to suggest that taking T3 will reduce your fertility. Bear in mind that most endos are knobs, and you won't go far wrong. radd has given her wisdom on blood tests here healthunlocked.com/thyroidu...
If you haven't already, ask our admins for a list of endos whom other thyroidies have found useful. There is sooo much misinformation concerning thyroid disorders and anyone saying black is black and that's that is likely an asshat, so far as thyroid conditions go. Endocrinology is still at the kindergarten stage, unfortunately...
Thank you. I do some some recommendations re endos but I plan to steer clear of them as much as I can really. Thanks for the advice re vitamin d. They are all such knobs, I agree!
