Hi, i have stayed good since starting T3 but have had Covid again. This is the 5th time. Thinking of getting more jabs but read somewhere SARs vachine could cause Thyroid problems? What are everyones views on jabs?

Just so you are aware this group has a vaccination post policy: healthunlocked.com/thyroidu...
Caution is advised, there are numerous sites which give information, the media frequently publishes reports about the Covid jab. I'd say try to use specific searches to try and inform yourself as to whether it is wise or not to have them. I haven't, personal choice, I've had Covid twice as far as I know and came through fine. It's become controversial as to whether or if there are benefits. Stay safe out there lol.
Covid itself can cause thyroid problems as well as many much worse problems.
My personal view is that the vaccine is not completely risk-free. A very small minority of people have developed something remarkably akin to long covid from it. It’s rendered me housebound - but I’d had post-viral ME/CFS for many years, so my immune system was already misfiring in some fundamental way, and vaccines of any ilk are always a gamble with ME/CFS
I believe the Novavax vaccine protects against a wider range of variants and is believed (by patients, at least) to have an even smaller risk of negative outcomes than the MRNA vaccines. So I’d be looking into seeing if I could get that one in your place.
This is only my personal view, but unless you have reason to suspect you might react badly to the vaccine, I’d be inclined to get it, whilst recognising it’s not risk-free. Catching covid is not risk-free either. The vaccine is supposed to reduce the likelihood of developing long covid, which is something you do NOT want.
I hope you recover swiftly and fully from this bout of covid.
If they have had Covid 5 times and are still ok once it's done then I'd suggest it's pointless to have a jab, what protection would it offer? Clearly the immune system is coping without the dubious help of a jab. I wouldn't ever advise anyone to have it because we are all individuals as would be any reaction that might occur. I think I'd take issue with your claim around a very small number of people. The Yellow card reporting system for reactions to jabs has now got many many reports. It is in the end personal choice of course but I would advise anyone to do some research across the topic and find where they fit in best with all the pros and cons offered. Just remember, once it's in, you can't take it out
There are still so many open questions about both Covid and the vaccination. People are still coming down with long covid having sailed through a previous five or six infections, so *if* the vaccination indeed offers protection, then I think it's worth considering.
The "very small number of people" reference is speaking proportionately. It doesn't lessen the tragedy for every one of those people - of whom I'm one - who have been adversely affected, nor does it mean the vaccination is risk-free, as I made clear.
The poster asked for people's views, and I gave mine. The more opinions people share, the more the OP can target their own research when deciding what to do.
I had a follow up appointment yesterday & discussed this in detail with them, not about me having anymore but about the ones I’ve already had & my timeline of events, from being ok to being diagnosed with graves. I know vaccinations can’t be discussed on here so I won’t go into any more detail about what was said to me, all I would say is have the conversation at your appointment & be as informed as possible.
my thyroid went mad when I had my first AZ jab. 2 weeks after I had the jab, my thyroid gland swelled and then I rapidly lost weight - 18lbs in a month, and then my hair fell out for 6months. (everything sorted itself out and I went back to normal). The 2nd AZ was fine, nothing to report. I have had Covid twice since then, both times felt like really bad flu for two weeks. Both times it has felt as if the infection is in my throat, head and ears rather than my chest. Both times, it felt bad around my thyroid gland, and both times I have had ear and balance problems in the weeks following the infection. My GP said it’s likely the virus damaged my inner ear slightly which may make susceptible to ear problems with every head cold etc now.
I guess Covid affects us all differently. My underactive thyroid is due to an autoimmune element. I think gluten or wheat has a part to play, but I am a little lax with my diet. In my case, I think I would avoid gluten for several months before getting another vaccine, and I should probably go back to being 100% gluten free.
Point is, I don’t think the vaccines are an issue (except rarely) it’s our immune systems. If you can try and figure out what triggers yours and get it as steady as possible? (Says me, who isn’t following my own advice… !)
