I have a non functioning pituitary adenoma, which is essentially a benign growth on the pituitary gland. I once returned a very high prolactin result on a test and was worried that it meant my tumour was now functioning (that is producing random hormones- prolactin is a common one). At the time, I was like you, well over range, but was told that they only care about absolutely massively over the range, as apparently prolactin can be impacted by lots of random things, so high readings are not uncommon.
As for the pituitary adenoma - it sounds very dramatic, but has spent, to my knowledge, some 15 years quietly minding its own business, whilst also getting me annual NHS endo appointments, so it turned out to be a gift, quite frankly, when I developed hashis later down the line! With all this in mind, I think it is quite likely that the high prolactin reading is a random spike and not something to be too concerned about! Fingers crossed that your experience of it is as prosaic as mine!
