Cortisol saliva testing - impact of nasal steroidal spray like Avamys?

Hi

To rule out adrenal issues, I have ordered Cortisol saliva test from gettested.co.uk.

Then I realised I am taking Avamys for my hay fever which has steroid in it.

Is it ok to continue with the test?

I’m not an expert although I have done the saliva cortisol test.

First - you should call the company you are getting it from. For mine and others here we have found those company’s support lines to be responsive and helpful.

Second - I know mine said to avoid even things like anti wrinkle face cream (and change my pillow cases if I’d been using). Things absorbed through the skin (or nasal cavities) at these lower levels might not be as obviously impactful as similar things that are injected or ingested - but yes - they absolutely absorb and impact your adrenal system.

I’d tell the company how much and for how long you’ve been using it and ask how long to wait after stopping to take the test.
