I have asked for a blood test and it's come out at 9,5. I have been getting palpitations lately they hay checked my Thyroid and my levels are fine. I am just concerned because I can't understand why it is so high. I know I'm over weight but I don't have a high fat diet and I walk between 3 and 4 miles a day. Hopefully someone can help?

Very high cholesterol is it linked to an under active Thyroid?
they hay checked my Thyroid and my levels are fine.
'fine' is a matter of opinion and on here we have learned the hard way that many GP's have a rather uneducated opinion when it comes to thyroid _
do you have these 'fine' thyroid results ?
if so put them up here .....it will be easier for folk to answer your Q.
if not .. get them
Tottally agree with tatty! Not only that, they don't do all the right tests so it's really impossible to say if you're fine or not.
High cholesterol is usually linked to low FT3 - and I bet he didn't even test that! It has nothing to do with your diet - especially nothing to do with eating fat! (Neither does weight-gain, come to that: eating fat doesn't make you fat.) Cholesterol and fat are two entirely different substances.
Cholesterol is made in the liver, and the liver keeps levels stable by making more when you eat less, and vice versa. But, when T3 is low, as in hypothyroidism, the body cannot process cholesterol correctly, and it tends to build up in the blood.
So, if you want to know your FT3 level, you're probably going to have to do full thyroid testing privately.
Your right they haven't tested for that this is all I have and they are putting me on Statins.

Are you still only on 75mcg levothyroxine per day
Is your hypothyroidism autoimmune
For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4 and FT3 tested
Also both TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested at least once to see if your hypothyroidism is autoimmune
Very important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12 at least once year minimum
Low vitamin levels are extremely common when hypothyroid, especially with autoimmune thyroid disease
About 90% of primary hypothyroidism is autoimmune thyroid disease, usually diagnosed by high TPO and/or high TG thyroid antibodies
Autoimmune thyroid disease with goitre is Hashimoto’s
Autoimmune thyroid disease without goitre is Ord’s thyroiditis.
Both are autoimmune and generally called Hashimoto’s.
Significant minority of Hashimoto’s patients only have high TG antibodies (thyroglobulin)
20% of autoimmune thyroid patients never have high thyroid antibodies and ultrasound scan of thyroid can get diagnosis
In U.K. medics hardly ever refer to autoimmune thyroid disease as Hashimoto’s (or Ord’s thyroiditis)
Recommended that all thyroid blood tests early morning, ideally just before 9am, only drink water between waking and test and last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test
This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip)
Private tests are available as NHS currently rarely tests Ft3 or all relevant vitamins
