I started levothyroxine 3 months ago at 50mg following a slightly high TSH count resulting in an ultrasound which found a benign thyroid nodule. My TSH was good for the first following up, but raised above the threshold in my last blood test. My last test also showed high cholesterol. So, I had my levo dosage raised to 75mg. I'm now on day 2 at 75mg and feeling fairly icky but was hoping to wait it out on the assumption my symptoms (agitation, light sensitivity, barely controlled panic, ants under the skin etc.) would settle again once my body got used to the new dose. I'm fairly sure i went through something a little similar when i started my original dose - although my memory is pitiful. However, I'm now getting a consistent sharp pain under my right ribs. Should I be worried?

Pain under right rib following increased levothyroxine dose
I had gall bladder disease due to long term undiagnosed hypothyroidism causing elevated cholesterol and stasis. When I started levothyroxine it woke up my diseased gallbladder causing pain. If you get sharp pains or it continues to get very painful you can see a doctor who can do a blood test for bilirubin which is a very good test.
I was getting a sharp pain under my right rib. I wasn’t on thyroid meds then. I stopped talking all b vits and the pain stopped. I was sent for abdominal ultrasound and all looked ok and nothing came back on bloods but I was reading about NAFLD which can be connected to thyroid issues and doesn’t always show up on tests.
like Jimh111 to me pain under right rib is associated with gallbladder/ bile duct. I was originally given a week of antibiotics for such pain, no better a week later and fortunately saw another GP who did blood tests with bilirubin/ALT, which proved very high and sent to have scan to show blocked bile duct. Only later found out its associated with poor hypothyroid control…had been left for over a decade on levo. but with FT3 barely in range.
