I'm so happy to be back. Still on hyperthyroidism medications since 2020. My doc said we can't just stop it all like that with series of TSH tests and reviews monthly, hopefully all medications will stop one day😊

Welcome back! I think it’s been 4 years since you last posted, so do let us know any ongoing symptoms and share your recent thyroid blood tests with us, so we can offer further advice.

No serious symptoms really. Do take my med as prescribed (carbimazole 5mg 3tabs). Can't really wait to stop, if possible

How much carbimazole do you take? And do you take other medications?

I agree with you doctor, dose should be steadily reduced & levels monitored.

Do you have recent results (TSH, FT4 & FT3)

You would be suprised how often we hear doctor decided to stop all treatment & see if I stay in remission, because it’s been 18 months….. or Doctor leave someone on 5mg long term because that’s common maintenance dose, but they have become hypothyroid.

Hello again :

Did you ever get confirmation and a diagnosis of anything - we were thinking Graves disease last time you posted ?

Did you get the antibody test for Graves -

a TSH - Thyroid Receptor antibody - or maybe a TSI - a Thyroid Stimulating antibody _

Where are your Free T3 and Free T4 results sitting now - compared to when you were here 4 years ago ?

We do now have some research that maybe of help :-

pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/338...

ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/306...

Do you live in the UK - as there is nothing on your profile page ?

Not in UK Africa Nigeria. Only hyperthyroidism no graves

So not Graves - then do you have Hashimoto's ?

Have you any antibody readings - TPO -TgAB - with ranges ?

This is another thyroid auto immune disease which causes transient ' hyper ' symptoms. ?
