Does anyone else have myleodysplasia, and do you get any symptoms. My red blood cells are larger than normal and was told by Neuro Surgeon to have six monthly blood tests to ensure white blood cells did not become infected. I have no symptoms myself but wondered how many others have this condition.Sallywag.

366316, You have posted your question about myleodysplasia in a forum that only specialises in thyroid disorders. Do you have a thyroid disorder?

Large red blood cells are a symptom found in people who are low in Vitamin B12. Low folate can also cause large red blood cells. Before treating either of these you should get tests of your B12 and folate levels.

If either or both are low, please supplement with B12 (methylcobalamin) for a week or two before starting to treat your folate (methylfolate). If both are low you will need to supplement both. It is also a good idea to take a good quality B Complex if any B vitamins are low.
