sorry I can't help but I'm trying to get diagnosed and my wbc is consistently low too.. they keep saying I'm fighting infection but I can't be for 4 years!! glands in my neck and groin swollen for a year too but they dismissed them as reactive glands

thank you for your reply. I'm asking for my sister who has had wbc low then okay then low again. Thyroid problems run in our family so wondering whether its an underlying issue there. I have never had low white blood cells but I have had raised glands from when I was 18 and had a virus that are still there now and I'm 31. I feel at certain times the virus gets reactivated, at times of stress or not eating well. Have you been tested for Epstein barr? I feel better when I eat aip, and make sure I get enough rest. But aip diet has made the most difference to me.

have you also not been diagnosed with thyroid issues? What was your blood test results? I was told mine was fine for ten years until they admitted it had been over range all that time and my tsh had gone to 22

Hi there thanks for your post I haven't tested for epstein virus no but the sw9llen neck and groin glands never go down they are always enlarged but do get bigger. there's been no virus that's causedit that I know of. I eat well but barely sleep I only get 3 or 4 hours every night and going through menopause so no doctor takesxne seriously ..

I've had 3 private thyroid blood tests done all point to secondary hypothyroidism a 9roblem with my pituitary as you ladies have agreed on here my own gp disputes this says all levels normal even though they'renot and will not refer me to an endocrinologist. I'm having my 4th private thyroid panel done this Thursday privatelythen I'm making an appointment to see a thyroid consultant privately as I'm sick of feeling so ill.

once I get confirmation I'm going to report my surgery for neglect and being useless diagnosing me as being stressed and having health anxiety and hypochondria!@@

I shouldn't have to keep having to pay for private tests and see private consultants but as I've found out we have to self rest and diagnose or the nhs would let us have a long ill miserable life

meant to say also we have 4 family members with hypothyroidism in the family but apparently that's irrelevant!😏

its so frustrating isn't it! I went through it for years. Have you tested your adrenals privately with a cortisol saliva test? That could be the reason for not sleeping so much. What was your tsh coming back as? So sorry to hear you are suffering and hope they listen to you this time round! Have you had your crp level checked? This can indicate inflamation and an underlying infection

yes it's the not being believed and the fact they think I'm making illnesses up I am not that kindof person.

the last crp reading was 2 years ago it was 0.1 so all fine.

my tsh is always ok mid to low range it's my t4 and t3 that are both low my t3vid usually under range and t4 bottom figure. secondaryhypothyroidism or hypopituarism is quite rare so doctors won't acknowledge it they only know hypo or hyper which is a thyroid issue mine is a pitituatary gland issue as all levels are low .

I haven't done a cortisol test but I'm sure it's too high as I'm wired at night but tired dizzy weak during the day..although that is a menopause issue and circadian issue too..

if I was a dog I'd have been put down lol

Low levels of white blood cells is called Leucopenia. I don't know anything about it, but just knowing what a medical condition is called is helpful to know if you want to know more.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leuko...

healthline.com/health/leuko...

Notice that white blood cells are made up of the following :

basophils

eosinophils

lymphocytes

monocytes

neutrophils

If you have had a Full Blood Count done then levels of the above are usually given separately as part of the results. It will give you more information if you found out which type(s) of white blood cell are low and you could research them.

Thank you...the last comment about my very low WBC was in A and E I was rushed in and the doctor said it was low and had been for some years on my notes. I hadn't been told this but when I saw my doctor after that night he confirmed I'd had low WBC for some time said nothing to worry about just an infection somewhere!!! I said where...he couldn't answer that...

in reply tohumanbean

thank you so much. I will look into those links. Appreciate it, thanks

I thought you got raised WBC if you had an infection. When I was going through the start of the menopause and had very heavy periods, I had low WBC, which the doctor said was nothing to worry about. It did correct and I have always wondered wether it was to do with blood loss?

I hope you find an answer soon!
