TEVA 100mcg Thyroxine

I had taken another brand for many years and have now been switched to TEVA. This happened a short while ago and since then I feel much more tired with aching joints. Is this coincidence? Overall my dose has been reduced from 100/day to 100 Mon-Fri and 75 Sat, Sun. This is addition to T3 12.5 mcg/day.

Was the Teva switch at the same time as a dose reduction? Hard to know if its the Teva if that happened.

Why was your Levo reduced?

75/100 alternating is a fairly low dose for someone on combination therapy. You may well be under replaced anyway.

How are your vitamin levels looking?

What are you supplementing with?

Thank you Jaydee1507.

My dose was reduced by 50mcg/week and TEVA introduced at that time, but my T4 fell by 3.5! Seems a lot for a v small change in dose? The TSH is suppressed so have reduced T3 to 10 mcg/day, 5am, 5 at lunchtime. As I am paying for the T3 via Roseway Labs, paying for all my thyroid tests and paying each time I see the consultant, I cannot afford to make micro changes under his supervision. This past 7 months has been very expensive indeed. The consultant, whom I found on your list, has described the letters my GP has sent to me as very intimidating and has urged me to change practice. This is harder than it might seem.

The muscle pains remind me very much of the severe pain I had when first diagnosed in 1996. with TSH 138. By evening I am yawning continually and fall asleep at the table sometimes. I am not used to feeling like this.

I take fish oil (Bare Biology), Zinc, B12 (both Pure Encapsulations) D3, K2, Hema-Plex, Magnesium (multi-mg salt formula). I would be very grateful for advice on these. I take them all well apart from my thyroid meds.

I reacted badly to Teva, I didn’t know what was going on for a while, felt awful, fraught achy, tearful and had a blotchy rash on my face. I went back to my previous make of levo and everything went back to my normal. I think we can all react differently to different brands. The dr said it was probably the fillers they use.

Thank you, Kimmi01.

I appreciate you sharing your symptoms and can definitely relate to some of them. I changed pharmacy and the TEVA 100's appeared for the first time. They have agreed to change to a different brand, hopefully what I had before. Cannot wait to see if a change back will alleviate the pains etc. Thanks again.
