I am 64 years old and went through menopause in my early fifties. I had such horrible hot flashes with night sweats that subsided when I turned 60. But I'm noticing I am starting to get these heat spells that are not hot flashes. When I eat and sometimes and at night when I sleep I wake up briefly feeling hot but not like the hot flashes I used to have. I'm just wondering if anybody is is experiencing similar symptoms. Also wondering if it's related to my thyroid starting to crap out on me? I feel fine otherwise, no fatigue or other thyroid symptoms. I'm due to have my labs done mid May. I have been stable on Synthroid 100 mg daily for quite a while now. I have Hashimoto's and was diagnosed in 2006.

Is my thyroid starting to act up?
Your symptoms could definitely be linked to a Hashi flare Capan24. So we can offer better advice, can you share most recent blood test results (with ranges in brackets) for:
TSH
FT3
FT4
Plus any key vitamin tests (ferritin, folate, vitamins D and B12). Remember that when GPs say results are normal/ within range, this may not be the same as OPTIMAL.
If your GP is unable to complete all the above (eg if TSH is within range, some surgeries may not be able to access FT4 and FT3 tests), you could look to do this privately, as many forum members do, for a better picture of your thyroid health:
thyroiduk.org/help-and-supp...
May 2023: TSH 0.69
March 2023: Free T4 0.9
TSH 0.47
Vitamin D: 48
I forgot to include lab rangeTSH (0.45 to 5.33)
Free T4 (0.7 to 2.0)
Last time I got my TPO checked was November/2022 and it was 121. I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's in 2006 and at that time my TPO was well over a thousand
I have not had Vitamin B12 done in awhile. My provider is pretty good about ordering labs that I request. I was going to ask her to do a vitamin B12 along with
FreeT 4.
As you can see my TSH usually runs on the very low end of normal. I usually feel the best when it's under 1.0. I take my Synthroid 100 micrograms at 10:00 p.m. at night. This way I don't have to worry about taking it on an empty stomach since I eat at 5:00 p.m. and no snacking in the evening.
I feel pretty good except for having these heat episodes. No increased heart rate or pulse, no constipation or diarrhea, no fatigue.
I would ask for FT3 to be tested alongside FT4 and TSH, plus B12, folate & ferritin. Please share results and ranges when you have them. Your adverse symptoms could well be due to less than optimal key vitamins- these are often low with Hashimotos.
I like my vit D levels to be100-150nmol/L. I supplement if it drops below this.

I’m on HRT and I still get bouts of hot sweats, not as bad as the flushes, where it was running down my face, but enough to remove layers, I’m also always warm, only had T-shirts on, can’t cope with long sleeve at all. Have my bedroom window open all the time. Not very often, but if I do get cold, I really feel it.
Hope this helps.
