Hi, i wanted to do a blood test in the morning, but foulishly just drank a Berocca which contains Biotin. Seeing my consultant Saturday so want to pot a test tomorrow. Will it matter? Also taking B complex does that have Biotin? Many Thanks for any advice.

I might not have a yes/no answer but I do know there is a threshold under which it’s said to be fine.

I believe that this accounts for typical amounts of biotin in foods we eat (ie, guidance says to stop supplementing with biotin - not to cut all biotin out of your diet.)

I will look for the article I have if no one else replies, but maybe in the meantime let us know how much biotin is on the drink label and also on your b complex label.

From this article a small one off dose may be ok?

Pretty much.

Remember, we have some biotin in our regular diets - and that is not a problem.

How much is in what you have taken?

130 micro grams - minimal? I have done the test now.

Biotin can cause a false result in thyroid blood tests. You need to stop taking it at least seven days before the test.

It will be in your bloodstream. I would have a word with the nurse/haematologist who is taking the blood test

Which vitamin B complex are you taking

Look up exactly how much biotin in it

We always recommend stopping 5-7 days before test and taking separate B12 and folate in stead that week

Why are you taking Berroca as well as vitamin B complex

well you could test tomorrow but results might be affected by biotin
