Back to gp to ask about last thyroid bloods🤦

Hi everyone ❤️

So I posted a couple of days ago about the abysmal treatment by my surgery in me getting new thyroid blood tests 🤦

First I should point out my surgeon in Liverpool requested these thyroid bloods because (1) , I've been off thyroid medication since January 31st (no thyroid)

I had a 4D CT scan done which detected thyroid tissue, this is vascular and the surgeon is wondering if maby it's producing thyroid hormone 🤷 she noted this is a good time to test your blood levels as you've been without thyroid medication since January 31st, so before you start on your new thyroid medication I would like a full thyroid /thyroid antibodies done, then you can start on the new thyroid medication (if you start on thyroid medication and have bloods done I can't judge if this nodule is producing any thyroid hormone, the test will be scued)

So I go today to ask when my thyroid bloods were last done.. Nov 2023 😳 I thought it was Dec just before I saw the endo, for some reason the gp who requested that the bloods can be done because my surgeon in Liverpool sent the blue blood form, as now said no to the thyroid bloods and antibodies 😡

This gp as now told me (through the receptionist) to start on the new thyroid medication and come back in 7wks for new bloods... 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

What a plonker... I explained all this to her about the surgeon in Liverpool wanting the bloods done this way so as to see if I'm producing any thyroid hormones, get blood done, then start on new thyroid medication then after 7wks on new thyroid medication get bloods done.

The surgeon then can look over the thyroid bloods done taking no thyroid medication see if I'm producing any thyroid hormones , then look at blood while I'm on thyroid medication after the 7wks 👌 good god how can my surgery be so bad😡😡😡

So I've decided to take the blue blood form from the surgeon in Liverpool, and get the bloods done at the hospital instead, unfortunately I'll need to wait until a few days, because I've taken 3 days worth of T4 vencamil 🙄🙄

So sorry for the long post😔 but I'm so razzed off with my surgery, I'm looking to move but can't until I see endo in June and get this lot sorted 😡

It's a wonder I haven't died of stress.... 😂

birkie how infuriating for you. The GP ineptitude knows no bounds. Think I would put in a formal complaint to the Practice manager, once the bloods have been done. Hope you soon get some answers as to whether or not you have some thyroid.

I understand how frustrated and annoyed you feel. I think a lot of us are confounded by the lack of communication between health providers - but also by a lack of clarity around nhs rules.

In my case my Endo sends me a form for ‘TFT Endo’ blood test twice a year (used to be 4 times a year but now considered stable) which I take to my local hospital to be done. If I feel unwell I can request an additional form at any tine from Endo’s Secretary.

I know that if my GP gave me the same form, the requested tests would NOT be done by the labs - forms from GPs and Consultants are processed differently.

I’m not sure that I have fully understood the timeline in your post - so apologies if this information isn’t relevant🫤.

I hope you get the tests and prescribing you need . Best wished

There is definitely a lack of communication 😡 this gp I'm talking about is a training gp at my surgery 🤦 I feel my case would be better under a fully trained gp, although that dosen mean diddly squad today 😁.I'm just going to go to my hospital with the blood form from my surgeon in Liverpool and get them done there, I should have just done that in the first place 🤦 but we're told time and time again.. The NHS are snowed under, very busy please attend you gps surgery... I'm telling you one day I'll come down to my surgery and it will be a circus tent, because there mostly clowns running it🤡🤡🎪😁

yes - using the Consultant’s form will get the tests done.
