hi everyone, I had to come off HRT in December. It hasn’t been as bad as I thought.
Except…I get the most awful hot episodes through the night. They wake me up as I feel I’m being cooked, no sweating though. I’m in the cycle of throwing covers off then waking again freezing, and like many of us my normal state is to feel cold.
I didn’t have bad night sweats as part of my peri / menopause pre HRT. So I’m not convinced these episodes are menopause related, I think it’s thyroid-linked.
I know others have experienced similar, any helpful advice or top tips? I’m desperate for more restful sleep!
Thanks! 🙂

Have you ever tried red clover? I find it really helps me. I have been taking it for about 8months and a few times I have stopped for a few days/week whilst I source more and the night sweats return. But disappear again after 2/3 days of taking them. I am early stages of perimenapause / sub clinical hypo
Hi Slowrunner, I’m afraid I don’t have any helpful answers, but I also have Hashimotos and similar-sounding hot flashes in the night; I was assuming that they were menopause related, as I have had them on and off for a few years.
I am not on Levothyroxine (or HRT) but it would be interesting to hear if anyone’s flashes disappeared after they started Levothyroxine.
hmmm t could it be delayed be sugar / glucose related maybe? Glycemic reaction? Lad next door (diabetic) gets one 4 hours after chocolate so insulin taken to adjust has gone by then, has to be really careful. I discovered I have reactive hypoglycaemia (my glucose level drops too fast after a rise) doing Zoe programme while I was doing their experiments I found I was all kinds of hot and bothered, tired and grumpy. I definitely have to keep my sugar curve as flat as possible even all the tricks like eat fat with etc don’t work for me.
Other thing I thought of is histamine but not my area ….
