Short item on news today about how pharmacies are “subsidising” prescription costs. No doubt the reason for pharmacists not having items in stock. One pharmacist was losing£1500 per month and he explained that offering other services such as injections, ear wax removal etc was the means of making a living from the pharmacy business.

Then we have the dentists not being properly paid for the NHS work that they do.

The NHS is falling apart when are the politicians going to take action?

Totally different set up in the US, but pharmacy is also at a breaking point here.

Several years ago #pizzaisnotworking was started by pharmacists who wanted better working conditions… not free pizza for lunch as if that was a substitute.

There’s no one perfect article about it - but here’s one:

Biggest thing here are overworked employees, new responsibilities like giving vaccines, and a lack of employees leading to reduced store hours.

In many way it is fundamentally different than the UK, but we see the same impact of monopolies (whether corporate or government).
