Hi, i am now on 150 Levo. Still have a swollen neck - but all of a sudden i have a lot of joint pain? I am trying to be mainly Gluton free but do have naughty days like this weekend. Could the joint pain be from eating Gluton or is ut another issue?

24 days ago you were on 75mcgs Levo. What happened?

If you are raising Levo at a fast rate then there may be symptoms from doing that alone.

So the joint pains might be due to raising your dose fast, could be gluten, could also be dairy which is what caused me a lot of joint pain.

What were the results of your last blood test at which dose?

How are your vitamins looking?

What supplements are you taking?

I know i have rushed my meds - which has been my choice and reluctantly agreed with my Endo. My next test and appt is in 3 weeks. I should have waited until then to raise my meds (i know i am not doing things at the correct pace, but ive chosen to take that risk). Im taking a lot of supplements, B complex, D3, starflower and Primrose, Magnesium, Iron, Selenium, Guar Gum and Marine Collegen. I am also on HRT.

To get an accurte blood test you need to have been on a stable dose for 6-8 weeks, so likely your next test won't be accurate.

Obviously it's your choice and you are aware that the rate you are increasing isn;t recommended. I would just say that with thyroid treatment its the tortoise that wins the race.

I'm curious and mean this in the nicest way possible but why are you rushing to get your Levo up so high so quickly? We are all impatient to feel well and you wont find any argument there, but increasing your Levo so quickly without waiting 6-8 weeks in between each dose seems like self sabotage.

Is there a reason you are increasing so quickly? It took me months, actually more like 2 years plus to get to 150mcg. The issue being that you may struggle to tolerate it and end up feeling worse. You've tried so hard to get onto Levo it seems odd that you are racing through the doses 🙂

Because I had to get back to work etc.. and i needed to be better quicker. I know if could be to my perril. If i did not get better i wouldnt get paid and would loose my house as i have a high mortgage. I know i have made you guys cross not following your advice. I will go down again if it doesnt suit me.

I completely understand, we aren't cross with you, just concerned about your well being. I wish you luck 😄

You should only increase dose by 25mcg at time, then wait 6-8 weeks to retest

It’s extremely easy to increase too much and start to feel worse due to being on too high a dose levothyroxine

What were results after 6-8 weeks on 50mcg levothyroxine

How much do you weigh in kilo

As admins have mentioned you may be raising too fast. Some people can tolerate that, others can’t.

If you are truly gluten-sensitive, you cannot have naughty days! Not without suffering for it for a long time after. Could well be the cause of your joint pain. But, so could a lot of other things. How your vit D?

I am trying. And if this is the result i am aware its my own fault. Just trying to work out what is effecting me. I had a head MRI i was dreading as i am claustraphobic and rewarded myself with a rather large McDonalds. Also scuppered my diet :(

Good grief no wonder …..pappy white bread and probably wheat in the “chips “

Learn to treat yourself with something healthy and gluten free instead
