Please advise - symptoms worsening

Hi all,

As you may remember from previous posts, I’m still borderline anaemic and so I increased my iron dosage as per instructions several weeks ago. My FT3 has also plummeted from a decade average of 6 to now 4.8 (range 3.1-6.8)

I’m getting horrific migraines (they start with blinding auras). I stopped having migraines 13 years ago and at that time it was due to cutting gluten and optimising thyroid. I’m still gf. But now the migraines have returned.

With the migraines I’m also totally wiped out for days. This week I’ve had 2 migraines and I feel half dead to be honest. I’m also getting frequent heart palpitations.

What do you suggest I ask my dr? Shall I insist on increasing my thyroid? Iron transfusion? Perimenopause?? No idea how that impacts thyroid. I can’t carry on with these symptoms forever but I don’t know how to work out what’s causing them. I had wondered if it had been the t3 brand switch but I’ve now sourced my usual brand and don’t feel any better.

You've already picked up on the lowered fT3 which is bound to impact you but I would certainly say look into your sex hormones as lower oestrogen is a migraine trigger. Balancing all your hormones is key 🤗

Thanks! How do you test oestrogen? Whenever I ask for a peri test they only do FSH

Randox do a good one which covers everything, needs taking at the right time of the month.... randoxhealth.com/en-GB/at-h...

First one I've come across that does progesterone too, GP tend not to test as levels will be up and down and they aren't particularly up on hormones
