Papers mentioning semaglutide and levothyroxine:

(You might find different search results from "semaglutide" to "wegovy".)
I have been looking into Wegovy, Ozempic, Victoza and Saxenda. I don`t know which country you are in, because in some countries, these drugs are reimbursed if intended to treat diabetes 2, but not if you are obese and use them for weight loss.
They are very expensive if you have to pay for everything out of your own pocket.
What bothers me are the following questions:
1. If you are hypo, are you overweight because you are overeating or because you are T3 deficient/retaining fluid?
2. Even if you lose weight on them, are you supposed to stay on them indefinitely? Because if you don`t, you most likely will gain all the weight back when you go off them.
3. Can your doctor tell a person who is overweight from overeating from a person not being optimised on thyroid hormone replacement? Because, in my experience, they cannot.
I am not worried about the side effects as all drugs have side effects. But I wonder what happens when people go off them? After all, they were originally diabetes 2 drugs so intended to be taken for life. I suspect you need to take them continuously or will gain the weight back. That will lead to yo-yo dieting and is bad for everyone, and especially for hypos. And, staying on those drugs for life at your own expense could ruin you…
For such a new medicine, with limited access due to cost and prescribing policies, there have been a number of fatal outcomes in the UK alone (probably England only - MHRA numbers):
Male 13
Female 6
Link might well not work.
