I’m interested to know peoples thoughts, information and/or experience of using the weight loss drug Wegovy whilst being on levothyroxine? If any! Information online seems mixed.

Thanks

Do you mean under active thyroid?

If your thyroid is interactive I'd be very concerned 🤣🤭

Jokes aside I can't advice but some of the lovely others on here I'm sure will be able to help!

Well are you adequately treated for thyroid

What are your most recent thyroid and vitamin results

How much levothyroxine are you currently taking

Most hypothyroid weight gain is mucin

if your hypothyroidism is autoimmune are you gluten free/dairy free

Whilst I cant answer the specific relationship with levo, I have commented several times on HU that wegovy (or semaglutide) is a dangerous drug according to scientific research. If you cant find my comments, I can send you relevant links.

Semaglutide appears as wegovy, ozempic or rybelsus; see some reported effects below:

ema.europa.eu/en/news/ema-s...

See also here numerous other "warnings" including some of above: medicinenet.com/semaglutide...

Thanks for that - very scary indeed. I onlystarted to look at it as a friend has been on it for 3 weeks and lost 12lbs. But it’s not worth the risks!

Indeed. I suggest that a Nutritional Therapist specialising in weight loss is the way to go. If you require NT options, I can send.

That would be very helpful - thank you.

See below. If no success with these, I can suggest other options, individual or mass:

Two weeks ago there was a TV programme on just that. All the woman on the drug lost weight some lots of weight. There is a but coming of it, guess what? the weight goes straight back on again. If you are eating well and your thyroid levels are good you should not be putting on weight.

I missed that one - but I’d heard that too. I was curious as a friend has begun taking it and I supposed I was wondering if any thyroid buddies had tried it - but there’s no quick fix! Thx.

The only fix for thyroid patients is to have a good FT3 result. After my TT I was put on Levo for the first time and after just a few months I had gained an extra 10 lbs. Not much but I had never been overweight in my life. I was always hungry. For years I have been on NDT and my FT3 is always right for me now.

We have two hormones which work the stomach/brain. Ghrelin signals the brain to say your hungry. Leptin tells the brains that it's full.

Dieting never works but a healthy diet can help. I can't comment on people taking these pills as I have never been overweight.

I girl that work for me for years was always trying to lose weight both of her parents were big and she apparently a had fifty/fifty change of being the same being born with extra fat cells.
