Vitamin results from other post:
last ferritin was 65 ug/L
vitamin D 104 nmol/L
Both done in December
Do you also have folate & B12 results?
Vit D is good.
Ferritin could be a little higher.
Ferritin should be around 90 - 100 for best use of thyroid hormone. Suggest increasing iron rich foods in diet and eating them often. Chicken livers, pate, red meat etc
What time of day was the thyroid test taken? Highest TSH is at 9am or earlier.
Free T4 (fT4) 17.9 pmol/L (12 - 22) 59.0%
FT3 is bottom of range so your conversion is poor although TSH has a little room to manouvre.
Suggest you push for a Levo increase and may need to think about adding in some T3 at a future date.
These are my previous thyroid results.
Thanks for your reply Jaydee,
So I reduced my levo by 50mcg per week as FT4 was right at the high end and FT3 low, to see if this would boost conversion but my FT3 has actually dropped.
This is why I am looking to add FT3.
I have been self-medicating for around 8 months now.
I had vitamins tested too but I didn’t get results for iron b12 etc due to sample issue.
What time of day were these tests taken?
Are you already suppleenting B12 & folate, if so with what?
You need to get folate & B12 tested. Did they offer to retest?
Blood cells can be easily damaged if you squeeze your finger whilst doing a finger prick blood test. It can help a lot to follow test preparation carefully:
Drink plenty of water. Being well hydrated will make it easier to collect your sample.
Shower before you take your test or run your hands under warm water for a few minutes, as heat improves blood flow.
Do some light exercise (move around, go for a walk, etc.) to get the blood flowing.
Make sure your arm is below your heart level – let gravity do some of the work.
Nails that are too long can make it difficult to collect a sample.
Do not shake the sample vigorously but invert the tube gently 10 times. (gently swirl the tube after each drop of blood).
Do not squeeze (milk) the finger.
From your latest results you don;t need to drop any Levo before beginning T3.
This has useful information on improving ferritin via dietary changes.
