I've recently been diagnosed with radiation induced hypo. Im at the stage where my dose is being worked out.Has anyone experienced foot soreness, tenderness from hypo I can sometimes hardly walk. Or maybe it's something else causing it.
Sore feet and hypo: I've recently been diagnosed... - Thyroid UK
Sore feet and hypo
Yes it’s plantar fasciitis
Usually a mix of low vitamin D, inadequate dose levothyroxine and/or poor conversion of Ft4 (levothyroxine) to Ft3 (active hormone)
How much levothyroxine are you currently taking
How long on this dose
Bloods should be retested 6-8 weeks after each dose change or brand change in levothyroxine
For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4 and FT3 tested
Also both TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested at least once
Very important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12 at least once year minimum
About 90% of primary hypothyroidism is autoimmune thyroid disease, usually diagnosed by high thyroid antibodies
Autoimmune thyroid disease with goitre is Hashimoto’s
Autoimmune thyroid disease without goitre is Ord’s thyroiditis.
Both are autoimmune and generally called Hashimoto’s.
Low vitamin levels are extremely common when hypothyroid, especially with autoimmune thyroid disease
20% of autoimmune thyroid patients never have high thyroid antibodies and ultrasound scan of thyroid can get diagnosis
In U.K. medics hardly ever refer to autoimmune thyroid disease as Hashimoto’s (or Ord’s thyroiditis)
Recommended that all thyroid blood tests early morning, ideally just before 9am, only drink water between waking and test and last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test
This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip)
Thanks for that.I'm only on 75mg ATM. Still getting dose sorted. Been taking this does for 2 weeks but was on lower dose for 8 weeks prior.
I feel sick...thick mucus and stomache not right plus really tender sore feet.
Noone told me about not taking the levothyroxine prior to blood test. I did do the test first thing in morning with no food as had a full blood work done.
At least I now know it could be thyroid induced the feet issue.

I had plantar fasciitis on and off for 15 years like walking on daggers. All cleared up once optimal therapeutic dose of Levothyroxine and vitamins and minerals supplemented. So many issues fell away once properly medicated- even things I simply hadn’t recognised were connected with hypothyroidism. I kept a written record in real time as I noticed. If only doctors would encourage patients to do this- they could learn so much. 🙄
I also had plantar fasciitis. Which also resolved with adequate levothyroxine.
However, in the beginning I used very soft "diabetic" insoles in my shoes. They helped a lot. If you can use them with your footwear, I highly recommend them.

Hi helvella
I had custom made ones, being on my feet so much of the time for the business and they did help - absolutely clear as a bell now- just wear shoes as they come. Amazing!
Two and a half years clear 🥳
😉👍
I had some custom ones made. And they made my feet something like a hundred times worse.
Might have numbers wrong but something like wore them for two hours and spent two weeks recovering.
I suspect the person who did them was incompetent with respect to my extremely unusual feet. Pes cavus and extreme width together with a splaying stance.
