Please could you advise me before my appointment with my GP.It seems that the gp is going to suggest lowering my thyroxine. I presume its due to my suppressed THS as the results are as follows.
THS .001 (0.27 4.20)
T4 20 pmol/L (22-20)
T3 5.6 pmol/L (3.2-6.8)
100mcg levo and 10 mcg T3 in two doses
I'm driven mad evertime I go for a test, I have this fight waiting for me as they try to lower my thyroxine due my THS result . I would appreciate some information on this so I can show the gp. But looking at my results would a better balance be to lower my thyroxine and increase the t3.
I can see my t3 is 67.5%
And t4 is 80% through the refrence range.
Thankyou to any one that can give me some advice.

Firstly are you remembering to allow 24 hours from your last dose of Levo until the blood test?
What thyroid hormone are you taking?
Your FT4 is at the very top of the range. FT3 66% so you really don't want to drop much if anything.
You can always take responsibility for the suppressed TSH yourself.
The first paragraph in the NICE (NHS) Thyroid Disease, Assessment and Management guidelines says :

"Your responsibility”
The recommendations in this guideline represent the view of NICE, arrived at after careful consideration of the evidence available. When exercising their judgement, professionals and practitioners are expected to take this guideline fully into account, alongside the individual needs, preferences and values of their patients or the people using their service. It is not mandatory to apply the recommendations, and the guideline does not override the responsibility to make decisions appropriate to the circumstances of the individual, in consultation with them and their families and carers or guardian. Are you taking care of low or deficient vitamin levels? These are common due to low stomach acid from being hypo.
What supplements are you taking?
What are your latest results for ferritin, folate, B12 & D3?
Thankyou for your advice, being aware of my rights as a patient is really useful. I take a range of supplements ranging from vit D,C, B, magnesium and others, my vitamins are all good, baring folate which is under half way within the reference range, I'm trying to improve this by taking Thorne multi B vit twice a week.
"But Doctor, you know T3 suppresses the TSH, and this is what has happened, It would be strange and worrying if my TSH was not suppressed, But you know this Doctor, Have you seen the evidence that is TSH is suppressed for some time, the feed back loop gets broken, and it would not matterwhat thyroid drugs I took, the TSH would not move. Now ask me how I am feeling, because that is the most important thing, is'nt it?"
The above is only partly true, but they will not know that. Yes, T3 suppresses TSH, that is not a bad thing. Yes, there is evidence that the feeback loop breaks, and can take a long time, if at all, the react to anything you take.
