Covid and Blood Tests

Hello lovely people. I wasn't given the jab this year and I've recently had a pretty bad dose of Covid (four days of fever at 102, oxygen sats down to 92% at one point) and my heart rate went crazy and I had one episode of SVT briefly the first time I got out of bed after the fever. Only one, mind. I also had a bit of pain in the kidney area and, three weeks later, I still keep getting knocked back if I try to do normal things. After the worst of the virus had passed, my average daily heart rate plummeted to lower than it was before I got the virus and I am having trouble raising it up again. Which t new T3 was doing nicely beforehand. I take this as a measure of my general metabolic rate and it has been useful clinical evidence of my hypothyroidism.

But does the present low rate mean my thyroid has taken a hammering...and should I have the thyroid blood tests I am scheduled to have next week as part of my T3 trial? Or should I spend more time recovering and have them a bit later? In case they give a false picture...

Also, I kind of expected to have a rough time with Covid but I'm not sure in our circs what is normal viz recovery times. Has anybody got any good advice on this score? I've got pretty bad asthma at the moment and I have thought I was on the road to general recovery about three times so far in this journey but I keep getting knocked back to square one with bad chest etc. No infected mucus or anything, just bouts of constant coughing. I guess this is normal with hypothyroidism as well...but when do you think I should take it to the doc? Assuming I can even get an appointmnt :)

I had covid Oct of last year and Im thyroid-less and on combo T3/T4 and during my covid I had a cough that made me throw up every single time (just water) no fever, no lung involvement and a pulse rate that wouldn’t fall below 180 (never felt fast heart beats) it just wouldn’t fall (continued my meds) during this whole 2 weeks and dropped 14 pounds (even though I ate normally) eventually after 2 weeks my HR dropped fairly low and the cough lingered a little while longer and settled down and eventually I gained the weight back …. I lost my taste and smell and a year later I think this is still a problem… agh!

Covid is a monster and it’s hard to predict what will happen if you take your meds … my doctor told me to keep taking my meds so I did .

Sorry Batty1, I never got round to replying to this when I had Covid. Went offline for a while when I had bad fever and then my brain was not working so I forgot. I am sorry you had/are still having pretty severe repercussions.

I had four days of really bad fever, then a bit of a heart incident when I got up and then it took me three weeks to get back on track. Although asthmatic I don't think I had any worse chest involvement than many. But I did have anosmia (luckily only for a week unlike you) and I lost half a stone which Christmas has seen me put back on.

I took an awful lot of Vitamins C and D whilst incapacitated (as per Patrick Holford suggestion) and I genuinely think that may have helped. I lalso took YOUR advice (many thanks) and continued with the combi therapy.

I hope you get over all of your post-Covid symptoms soon and that you don't have it again in a hurry! Many thanks again.
