I started a 100mg dose of levethyroxine in October , but now have noticed my blood pressure going up then back to normal through the day it has been 154/92 then will go normal then back up , is this the thyroid meds , I take 100mg at 7am , would I feel better if I did 50 , then 50 about2pm or should I consider cutting my dose down , I do have moments where I feel like I’m going to drop , but levethyroxine increase has helped slightly, I have hashimotos so don’t know what to do for the best , as I was fine but now all change

Shows vitamin D, folate and B12 are all too low

Serum vitamin B12 level 301 ng/L [197.0 - 771.0]

Serum folate level 3.6 ug/L [3.0 - 20.0]

Serum total 25-hydroxy vitamin D level 42.0 nmol/L

Presumably you have now started adding vitamin supplements slowly

You will need separate vitamin D, separate magnesium, separate B12 and a daily vitamin B complex

Starting with vitamin D and adding others one by one ….waiting 10-14 days after adding each one

And have you now had coeliac blood test

Assuming test is negative you can then consider starting strictly gluten free diet

as detailed in your other recent post

So you've been on your current dose of a 100mcg for a month but were fine on previous dose, presumably 75mcg?It's a bit early to do a blood test. Needs to be at least 6 weeks.

Usually with Hypothyroidism blood pressure goes up due to under treatment.

I can't see that splitting it would make any difference as its a storage form and takes a while to be converted to T3. It's not like Liothyronine which is fast acting.

If it were me I'd stick to current dose. And test at 6 weeks. Do you have any other symptoms or signs? Have you checked your pulse and temp first thing before rising?

I had to increase due to feeling absolutely exhausted and it made a big difference, I had no side effects, no I only check if I can feel my heart beating stronger , today I feel absolutely rubbish head ache sweating realy lethargic and tearful , also heart beating stronger , hopefully this goes away soon I’m waiting on results of ct scan and ultrasound of throat and got to have more blood tests I have to have it at 9am this certain test but was not told what it was for ?

So did you increase without blood test first? How long were you on your previous dose.

Sweating is usually a sign of over treatment.

And Slowdragon has pointed out that your vit D & B12 are low and gave advice to you on how to improve them. You will need to improve these to get best effect from any dose increase.

I really feel for you but honestly you cannot rush the process unfortunately. I've been where you are now..... And had to back track in the end.

Not what you're looking for?
