I’m taking T3 medication and want to know if anyone who is also taking T3 has daily headaches. I suspect that the headaches may be a side effect of t3 medication.

T3 medication
Should have said it the Thybon Henning.
More likely you are not on correct dose
How much levothyroxine are you taking and which brand
How much T3
ESSENTIAL to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12 at least annually
What vitamin supplements are you taking
Saw your last post asking about coeliac test
Is your hypothyroidism autoimmune
Are you now on gluten free diet
Please add most recent thyroid and vitamin results and ranges
Recommended that all thyroid blood tests early morning, ideally just before 9am, only drink water between waking and test and last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test
This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip)
On T3 - day before test split T3 as 2 or 3 smaller doses spread through the day with last dose 8-12 hours before test
Testing options and includes money off codes for private testing

Hi
The last blood test show
Serum TSH level 0.062
Serum free T4 level 16.2 pmol/L
Serum free T3 level 4.7 pmol/L
Vit d normal
oestrogen normal for my age
I’ve been under the same private consultant for nearly 20 years so t3 is prescribed by him.
I do have multiple other health problems that can cause headaches but over the last year I been on a restricted diet and other meds motioned by my gp it has now been dwindled down to possibly the T3
My TSH is a normal but that is be cause I have a coiled brain aneurysm that’s sitting next to the pituitary gland .
This has been excluded as the aneurysm causing headaches by a neurologist . Other medication (immuno suppressants) have been excluded by my rheumatology’s consultant.
I have an appointment with my private endocrinologist in January ( I don’t think I’m allowed to name him on here )
I think what I wanted to know is can I stop the t3 before I go to my consultant so I can test to see if it the t3 that’s causing the headaches
Please add ranges on Ft4 and Ft3 results
Were tests done as recommended
How much T3
Do you normally split the dose
When were vitamin levels last tested
Assuming ranges are Ft4 12-22 and Ft3 3.1–6.8
FT4: 16.2 pmol/l (Range 12 - 22)
Ft4 only 42.00% through range
FT3: 4.7 pmol/l (Range 3.1 - 6.8)
Ft3 only 43.24% through range
Many members on combination therapy need Ft4 and Ft3 at least 60-70% through range
Suggest you increase levothyroxine initially
This should increase both Ft4 and Ft3
Also ESSENTIAL to maintain OPTIMAL vitamin levels
Where are you with your sex hormones? Low oestrogen can cause headaches
Tiromel caused headaches for me. I’m fine with Cytomel. What brand of T3 are you on?
Is that Pfizer Cytomel?
No, Uni-Pharma Cytomel.
Uni-Pharma do not make a product called Cytomel!
That's why I asked. There are at least three companies that make products branded Cytomel.
And a lot of people refer to all T3/liothyronine products as Cytomel.
Therefore, very easy to get confused.
Have you checked your blood pressure?
Hi yes blood pressure okay
I’ve been getting headaches too sometimes lately . I’m on Tiromel. I wondered what was up as I never get headaches only as rare as once a year…..Blood pressure not great when I checked so I’ve been drinking beetroot juice and have gone to decaf coffee plus no alcohol. I’m still wondering about the Tiromel.
Vit C can help lower blood pressure... love a bit of rosehip syrup 😋
Thanks, I didn’t know that. I do have one of those fizzer vitamin C drinks with my other vitamin supplements. Mmm haven’t had rose-hip syrup since I was a child. I’m very healthy and I exercise eat healthy etc. so I wonder if T3 gives the headaches and high blood pressure.
I tend to take the buffered Vit C 1000mg which seems to do the trick, though I have made more rosehip syrup due to popular demand... I originally started making it for my Father who so say didn't like taking BP pills but he used it for a week and decided it dropped his BP too low and he'd either have to stop the pills or the syrup... so the syrup got handed back! 🙄
I've always found its low estrogen and or low T3/4 that gives me nagging headaches, didn't have an issue with Tiromel it did raise by BP a little but it was too low.
It could be that the T3 has increased your cortisol levels which can lead to headaches?
Or perhaps your fT4 has dropped a bit too low?
Yes, headaches are a known side effect of T3 medication. The endo told me to take Paracetamol if I started having headaches. Hope this helps.
