Endocrinologist appt

I have an appointment with a NHS endocrinologist soon. I have a blood test next week so I can take my results with me. What results will the endocrinologist say any to see? I want to ensure I have as much information with me. My appointment is to see about me trialling T3/T4. Thanks

Showed you have Hashimoto’s

Vitamin D, folate and B12 levels needed significant improvement

Have you retested since?

Get full thyroid and vitamin retested

Recommended that all thyroid blood tests early morning, ideally just before 9am, only drink water between waking and test and last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test

This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip)

Medichecks and BH also offer private blood draw at clinic near you, or private nurse to your own home…..for an extra fee

Are you on gluten free diet

If not get coeliac blood test via GP/endo (as per NICE guidelines) BEFORE cutting gluten out

Thank you for the reply.

I have been taking vitamin supplements but haven’t had my levels retested. I will ask my dr if they will do them , if not I’ll get them done privately.

Do I need my TSH/T3/T4 tested? Anything else? My gp seems keen to do tests so hopefully they will do what I need.

Do I need my TPO redone?

I’ve had a test for coeliac - it was negative.

Thanks

Definitely need TSH, Ft4 and Ft3, vitamin D, folate, B12 and ferritin

NHS won’t retest antibodies

Are you now on strictly gluten free diet

Worth testing antibodies annually, likely to see level drop slowly on GF diet

I still have gluten although try to limit as much as I can. I’m trying to cut down on dairy as well as I get a rash after having it in some occasions.

Thanks for all of your advice. I will request the tests from my GP and see if they agree to them.

Dairy is highly inflammatory, best to avoid with Hashi, very easy to cut out and go with dairy free options.

Thank you, I am definitely going to try to cut it out of my diet
