advice please

I have been on levothyroxine 100mcg for last 3 years, I had my annual blood test in June tsh came back 2.2, after having some symptoms I got them done again as I was having a repeat ESR because that came back very high and the thyroid come back at 3.3 so it’s creeping up. ( I know tsh not the perfect indicator) so the gp put them down as normal, I sent a message saying I want to try an 25mcg increase as I’m getting numb hands no energy no periods, she has granted me a trial and said to have a repeat in 6 weeks time but I’m going away for December so it will probably be 8-9 weeks time. I will get a medichecks blood done before hand so I can check everything else. How long will it take to be able to see a difference in bloods? I’m very surprised as the thyroid gone up as I have lost 4 stone recently. I am taking folate, vitD and selenium also and just started Metformin again for pcos.

Bloods will be changing quite quickly, however they need time to stabilise to see an accurate level so 6-8 weeks is the standard time although they can still change further and allowing longer time between bloods, even 10-12 weeks will be even more accurate.

Just a heads up that Metformin can reduce B12 levels so I'd recommend a B complex as opposed to a stand alone methylfolate supplement.

Suggest you get bloods run for ferritin, folate, B12 & D3.

See link for companies offering private blood tests & discount codes, some offer a blood draw service at an extra cost.thyroiduk.org/testing/priva...

There is also a new company offering walk in (includes free blood draw) & mail order blood tests in London, Kent, Sussex & Surrey areas. Check to see if there is a blood test company near you. onedaytests.com/products/ul...

Only do private tests on a Monday or Tuesday to avoid postal delays.

I have not had them done in a while I’m hoping to stay on this dose of 125 for a couple months then get a medichecks test with everything to see where I’m at.

31/10/23

Tsh 3.33 (0.27-4.20)

ESR 17 (1-12) this was at 23 four weeks prior to this so if a retest
