I was diagnosed with under active thyroid over five years ago. I am on Levothyroxine and do have the blood tests every six months, but even since I been diagnosed I do not feel myself. Everyday feel
Like a battle I am constantly tired and feel like everyday is a fight. When I go to my GP they just tell me my blood levels are fine and my medication doesn’t need to be upped but I don’t feel fine. I have made life style changes to try and help and I feel no matter what I am doing nothing is working and no one is listening. I am now waiting for keyhole surgery as they think I may have endometriosis due to me having problems with my periods but these problems only started when I was diagnosed with my thyroid. My cycles are a mess I never know when I going to come on my period and when I do I end up bed bound and in serious pain. I am just looking for some advice as I feel I can’t carry on much longer feeling tired and fatigue everyday any advice would be grateful thank you.

You might not be on the correct dose of levo. Doctors don’t always complete a full test. What has been tested?
Do you have any access to / copies of results? Either online access or printed copies. Add on here with lab range (ranges vary so always needed)
For full thyroid test you are looking to tests - TSH, FT4 & FT3. TSH alone is totally insufficient.
Have TPO & TG Antibodies ever been tested? Also important to test Folate, ferritin, B12 & vitamin D. Levo works best when nutrients are optimal then the system converts what it needs to FT3.
Many use private testing companies & a fingerprick kit at home postal results to gain a complete picture.
Hi I have my results apparently it was low again so my Levo has been upped but I’m having repeat bloods in 8 weeks they think my body may not be recognising the Levothyroxine
What was low & but how much? Always best to add exact results. Levo (T4) is the synthetic form of what your own thyroid would produce. The body uses it to convert its to your own form on FT3 (Triiodothyronine).
The body not recognising it sounds like you doctor doesn’t understand how it works.
You can have issues absorbing replacement & converting but what does the body not recognising replacement manifest?
