Iron Test

Hi

I just wanted to check if there was a best time of the day to have a blood test for iron as there is for thyroid.

Llobs - It is advised to fast 8-12 hours before an iron test although water can be drunk before the test. I had a full iron panel test done and left 12 hours to ensure that the results would be as accurate as possible and so did the test am.

Don’t eat high iron dinner night before test

If taking iron supplements, stop 5-7 days before test

I fasted for mine - aim to test by 9am.

Thank you, I’ve managed to get a test for 8.30 and I’ll fast before it ☺️
