Thorne Adrenal Cortex - Stomach Pain??

I have been taking the Thorne Adrenal Cortex for a week now and I really think it is helping with my low morning and midday Cortisol which is great. I feel more alert in the morning with a bit more motivation and stamina, however it is giving me quite bad low intestinal pain and bloating . I am taking one tablet on empty stomach at 8.30 am and one at 12.30pm. I am going to try to reduce to just one tablet tomorrow but any thoughts on this? Might try taking with food also.

I haven’t tried Thorne but I do take Adrenavive. The instructions that came with those is to take it before food. Try that method and see if it helps.

Thanks Gingernut, I was taking before food so I took after breakfast to see if it makes any difference. How did you find the Adrenavive?? Do u have low cortisol also? I tried the Thorne one first as I read it is milder as I am very sensitive to things. Other than the stomach issue it is very good.

I'm so sorry, I missed your reply !! Yes, my cortisol was low, I have no idea what it's like right now so will have to do another Regennerus saliva test sometime soon. I've just finished Adrenavive II, 150 mg (90 days). I bought those because I didn't know of any others at the time. I do tend to suffer with "gastric" problems with lots of supplements, lower abdominal pain. It's usually the fillers that cause the problems and this case, probably the vegetable cellulose capsule (who needs wood pulp or bamboo - I'm no Panda !!)

I will re order and perhaps tip the contents out. The directions for Adrenavive is to take them before a meal so that's what I've been doing. Hope that helps.

Hi Caroline, STTM is admittedly not always well-regarded here but they advise that food must be in the stomach before taking ACE. I also started Thorne about a week ago! Always right after food and no stomach issues so far.

Thanks Foggythinker. That's good to know STTM recommend with food. Tried that yesterday and helped a lot , still a bit of pain put reduced . Do u think the Thorne is helping u yet ??

That's good news :) Yes, I think so... I'd gone fairly low after starting NDT, was feeling very hypo and those symptoms are very much reduced even on a low dose of NDT, although I don't need much ACE at all. Also the last few mornings I've tried taking myNDT 2 hours before getting up as per CT3M and this seems to help too.

Hi Caroline,Just to confound things, I have found the opposite.

I started taking Adrenavive 150mg with food and had bloating and burping. I now take it in advance of food by 15-30 mins and I'm fine. Go figure!

I also took Thorne before swapping, and didn't notice any digestive symptoms either way.

Definitely try with food.

Hi SneedleI'm thinking of trying one of these products, just wondering why you swopped from Thorne?

I swopped because I was up to 250mg of Thorne in the morning and it was going to be too expensive.

My cortisol is very low on the Regenerus test, so I decided to start on something I knew most people found to be OK, in the hope that I could reach a dose which would alleviate my symptoms.

Unfortunately the Thorne didn't work for me, but it was a gentle introduction to adrenal cortex.

I'm not sure Adrenavive is making any difference either but I'm still increasing the dose, fingers crossed it will in time.

Ah .. I see.Reading S arah Myhils thoughts around adrenals. She suggests Pregenolone, saying that starting off with Pregenolone means that all steroid hormones can be naturally synthesised in the correct physiological balance.

Anybody any experience with Pregenolone?
