I will have RFA performed on my nodule

Hello everyone, in the mean time I got the results back of the biopsy of my big thyroid nodule (4,8 x 2,6 x 1,9 cm) and it is benign! In a few weeks time (date not set yet) I will have radio frequent ablation in Holland. I will have to get in sober (no eating and drinking that day). I will get a local anaesthesia and a calming drug. Two patches will be placed on my upper thighs to guide the radiofrequent energy. After a couple of hours if everything is OK, I can leave the hospital. I will keep you updated.

Hi,

I an having RFA treatment in a few weeks for a large thyroid nodule. How was recovery? Have you seen a difference in appearance? I have no discomfort from it but I hate how it looks! Makes me very anxious and I only wear high tops to hide it 😥

Welcome Vicburt

The original poster (DearH) has posted a further update after the procedure (& the nodule had shrunk). Hopefully they will stop by again.

Do start a new post introducing yourself & let members know your thyroid journey. Are you near a hospital which does RFA on thyroid nodules? There are only a few in the UK. Is your nodule a growth issue or do you also have thyroid function (low or high levels) which need addressing too?

I’ve started a new post…

Hi, I’m new to this chat. I have a large thyroid nodule (for approx 5 years). I have been offered RFA treatment at my local hospital - looking forward to finally addressing this ! I had a referral to ENT for a sinus issue and it was the consultant there that actually referred me for this new treatment when he noticed my Goitre. It’s not been done at MKU hospital before. They are having a clinic provided my Royal Berkshire. Hoping to hear lots of positive stories
